Was taking the bike up to the ferry to England today and it fit in the car just fine with the front wheel removed (quick release is a blessing)!

But I set a suitcase on top of the bike not seeing the harm, and when I lifted it out and tried to fix the front wheel back in place the fork had been slightly pressed in..

This is, to be as descriptive as possible.. bent inwards so that the width of the wheel hub would not fit in as the fork was pressed to be slightly too narrow to accommodate the wheel like it should.

As I was on the spot, I literally had to lightly but firmly 'pull' the forks out and eventually, (still with a tendency to bend inward) I was able to get the wheel securely fitted to the bike , disc brake and all, and the wheel rolled fine as I checked the bike in to the ferry..

Of course, until I ride it I won't really know but even though I think it'll be fine... is it?

The bike has an aluminium frame and I'm worried this would be too much for an aluminium fork or maybe could be a safety issue? :/

Two week old bike as well, would be raging if this was a problem :/ But tell it to me straight!

You bent the fork. How much did the suitcase weigh?

the plastic dropout spread keepers are in the packing materials in all new bikes as shipped ,
To not have that re occur, bring one with you, next time.

Particularly if Carbon, now you have to buy a New Fork, as it is.
the alignment was changed, wheel no longer centered.

Take it to a bike shop. They may be about to bend it back with no damage to the aluminum.

The suitcase was pretty light, but the body inside it was quite heavy.

If the damage/bending is very slight, and if the the fork is Al, there's a great chance of a bike shop pulling it back into place. But if it's a CF fork and if the weave got overstretched, then it's a gonner.
