Frank, has your vision problem just come about recently? Hang in there. It can be hard if you had good vision at one time and then lost it- as opposed to having been a Mr Magoo all of your life, like me- in which case, it's just normal to you, and you learn to adapt. Sounds like we have similar vision. I use a magnifying glass and have to have my work close to see any detail- and that's in my good eye. I'm blind in my other eye. Hang in there. You'll learn to overcome it as long as you keep doing. Don't stop doing things!

Believe me, it's true. I've rebuilt car engines; built a two-car garage (Including putting up the 22' roof trusses single-handedly) and lots more...you learn to adapt. Just keep at it, and try not to rely on your eyes quite so much. You may have to do things a little differently if you were used to relying on good vision in the past...but if you can see good enough to not ride into a brick wall....you can see good enough to take that bike apart and put it back together...believe me!

Well Frank, everyone is allowed a pity party sometimes! I hope you get it all sorted out. You seem to have a much better attitude in your second post so I'm sure you can figure out a solution! Cycling, like many hobbies, can really help deal with life sometimes.

Good afternoon and happy weekend eve to all in this forum ...

This is just follow through for those that may have an interest.

I did e-mail High Gear Cyclery twice to provide them the link to this forum and discussion in the event they were interested.

I only received a reply from the service manager that he was out of the shop for family leave and provided an e-mai address for the sales manager. I forwarded him the same e-mail.

As of this afternoon, I have not received a reply or even an acknowledgement of receipt. Perhaps that speaks for itself.

Thank you to all for the comments and insights. Best wishes for pleasant, fulfilling, and above all safe rides.

I expect the bike shop is done with you, for whatever reason they have decided to cut the cord. Walking is good exercise and does not involve complicated equipment.
