I was actually a bit interested in the 2015 Surly Straggler - described by some with a word that I interpret as "festive"/"joyful"... until I saw it in person for the first time. On the Surly site, the Glitter Dreams color looked fairly bright and sparkly pinkish purple, but in person the color was rather dull and not as glittery.

So many times, I'll see bikes/helmets/shoes/jerseys whose color scheme really appeals to me, and they'll turn out to be women's-specific models! They get all the good stuff! (And I'm not talking pink and purple!)

I forgot to mention there's a WABA forum regular (he's local to my area) who rides a Glitter Dreams Straggler. He's a church minister with a (female) wife and children. I would have loved to have been around when some random person calls his bike "gay" to his face.

Bikes: 2016 Specialized crosstrail comp disc
I was all set to buy the ariel comp disc because it fit me perfectly and the lbs had it on the floor. After viewing the specs for my size (sm) in the crosstrail comp disc, the specs were the same in all areas of concern so I went with it.
I don't see how this bike looks 'girlie' at all, and would have no problem being seen on it.

+1. By using "sibling" instead of "brother" or "sister" and "their" instead of "his" or "her" the OP appears to have intentionally tried to hide gender to create confusion. In addition, there is nothing that stands out about the bike.
Troll-spotting 101. It's usually not that difficult if you take a few seconds to really think about the phrasing of a post, especially when it is a first post. Question: Why would any serious poster start a thread involving gender-appropriateness and not include any gender information? Answer: To goad people into responding precisely the way nearly all of you responded.

Ditto. Although I wonder why they bother, this is a forum that had a four page thread on tire stems.

This is a women's bike:
So are these:
These are all bikes that Lisa (wife) loves and rides all the time.
Additionally, this is my daughter's favorite bike (was my bike in 1980):
(one of these days I need to get a good picture of this bike, she doesn't live at home... so I only have it here when she trades out for the winter bike)

Oh, I don't know about the trolling. Anyway, threads like this one can sometimes throw up some interesting looking bikes during the discussion. The one in the OP is a nice one, in my estimation, and that Colnago above it is darned cool.

I am a guy and would ride that color. In fact, when I was having my new Engin built I looked it to a ceramic pink coating but the test tube looked to much like bubble gum so I went with this:
