There will be a retro movement in bicycles with kick stands, chain guards, and fenders returning as standard equipment.

To some extent yes. I was in a nearby "big box" store last week, and walked past the new bikes. One bike had a brake arm that was seriously bent, so I squeezed the brake handles to see if the brake worked. Then I tried a few other bikes. These were 16" kids bikes. It took a monkey grip to get those brakes to engage because they were so stiff.
