did first 30 mile

I decided to dive head first today, I had an appointment in a few towns over and calculated it was 31.2 miles from my house so I took the bus out to it with my bike on the bus and then rode home, it took me 2 hours and 12 minutes to cross 31.2 miles. It's my first ride over 20 miles. I'm doing another 30 on Saturday.

That is not too bad for your first 30 mile trip. You did not say if you have been riding. If that is the first ride, you have done well. Keep it up.

Congrats! I did one today also. Then I came home, ate a big meal and crashed for about 3 hours.

Congrats on the 31.2 miles. I can see a metric century right around the corner.

I see some buses around here with bike racks on the front.

That's great, congratulations. I've been thinking that being able to ride 30-50 miles as hard as you wish is the perfect spot. Push it for a challenge, cruise when you like. Takes 2-4 hours, not all day and I can still get some chores done at home. I sometimes feel the need to go further, maybe even do a century occasionally . When I do, I just get a little tired of riding and get off the bike for a bit. Any Dr. will attest that 30-50 is way more than the average exercise regimen. I did an 80 miler yesterday with lots of hills, just was not that much fun for the last 20 miles or so. Lots of people here ride long distances, but 30 is a pretty good balance of time/exercise and homelife. Keep at it, and get to where its comfortable for you and you'll feel great.
