Stoopid newbie question

I've been wondering about getting a set of aerobars for my bike. I ride about 50 miles a week and absolutly hate pedaling into the wind. Is it reasonable to put aerobars on a hybrid? I made a set of pads for my bars so that I can ride in an aerobar like position, but would like to see about putting a real set on. I haven't found any info on whether or not this is a normal practice.

Thanks

It can be done, though probably isn't considered normal practice.

There's a member here called ruirui who put a set of aerobars on his Specialized Sirrus, if I'm remembering correctly. Try a search of the forums (perhaps 'aerobars' and 'hybrid' or 'sirrus'). Make sure you buy a set that fits the diameter of the handlebars on your bike.

IMHO, if you're thinking about putting aerobars on a hybrid, you may have missed your true calling in cycling: road biking .

If you think it's comfortable then it's not weird.

I plan on putting some on a touring bike that I am building.

I mutated my superv500 into an urban assault commuter/bad weather/winter/all season travesty of nature last year, complete with...Profile aero bars! It was awesome--got a great tri-type position and very stable. Whenever there was a flat or something close, I'd get down on the aero bars and just pump along. Try it!

Thanks
- - Make it YOUR normal practice. Just do it.

I had considered it...just do it, if you like it, keep it. If not just get rid of em.
