Adding water bottle bosses

I'm very interested in adding water bottle bosses to my old steel frames. Can anybody help me out with finding a dozen or so M5 rivet nuts? Big box hardware stores and local hardware stores look at me sideways and I can only find packs of 100 on line so far.

Thanks- Richie

Bikes: Several, mostly not name brands.

Have you tried your LBS? They may already have the tool and RivNuts.

I wouldn't be too excited about adding riv nuts to a steel frame esp. if it's a good quality one. You could check out twofish or zefal gizmo bottle holder.

I'll check with the LBS tomorrow, thanks. Not worried about drilling into my beater fixie frame.

I recently got two riv-nuts from my local REI.
FYI - you can install them yourself without the special tool. Do a search as there are a number of videos for the installation.

EGADS! The bicycle wshops make a killing selling these! The local shop sold me 6 of them at just about $1.00 each. I think I'll order some of these ones. Thanks for that link.

Cheers

Check out the Minoura Stainless Steel Band Cage holders. They are nice simple clamps that don't take up a ton of space and will hold your cage and bottle much better than a riv nut which could pop out. I think they are classier and better than a twofish or similar strap on.

Any shop with a Merry Sales Account can get them for you and they might have other distributors that I have missed but if your shop doesn't have Merry Sales you should convince them to get it. The employees will be happy and they have a lot of cool Japanese stuff you cannot easily get in the states.

Thanks for the info- my LBS has them, I'll drill and they'll pop them in. As to the Amazon link, I did find that one also but the delivery time was a bit much- price is right, though!

Them hose clamp and a little rubber to prevent scratching would work. There is also options for a handlebar or seat mounted bottle holder.
