Thank you
I don't know if that is true or not, I'm enjoying my saddles now and they are very comfortable. I'll let you know if anything untoward happens.
You certainly have a remarkable gift for words, lol. So far, no squeaks on my saddles.
Looking at the leather on that saddle: notice the dark spot about 1/2 way up the nose? That is a weak point, and an indicator of low-quality leather, the type usually used for cheap gloves. Also, the grain on the saddle confirms this observation. This leather has little strength, and will shortly stretch and eventually break.

It would be nice in six months or so you come back and update this thread on your thoughts and experiences with this saddle.
Liking it right out of the box is a very good sign and I hope this continues for you.

And even if it is cheap and doesn't last long, it will last long enough to let her know if she likes it and that's what she wants. If so, she can buy a higher quality replacement.

FWIW I now have 2 Brooks saddles. I bought them both used in like new condition for $60 each. I am 6'5" 280 lbs. The b17 was my first purchase. I bought a can of Proof ride and treated it before I rode it. It was comfortable the first time I rode it. I have an number of other saddles, some rather nice and they usually start to be uncomfortable after a few miles. Not so with the brooks.
My second Brooks was a b67 with springs. It is just as comfortable, with the springs cushioning the ride a little bit more than the b 17. The B17 is on a 1980 Raleigh Record Ace with upright bars . The B67 is on a Nishiki international with the same upright bars with thumb shifters.

Believe it or not, it's probably coming from the adjustment hardware in the saddle nose.
Give that a try...

And I'd like to change my earlier assertion that the first application of silicone to the springs didn't reduce the noise appreciably. I rode it on some bumpy singletrack last night, and while it still squeaks and creaks, it is noticeably quieter than before.
