You only get warnings if the quote can't be verified easily or is twisted in a negative manner against someone.
And if you all go off the road like it often seems to happen, devolving into arguments and name calling it will probably get closed at least temporarily and sorted out by the admins, that happens a lot.
This is not a pissing match, we aren't solving the mysteries of the human mind, it was a speculator thread.
I'm not an admin at all but I see threads fall apart despite warnings from them, it seems to be reverse psychology and the people do it anyway.
This is their JOB here. Please make it easier for them as they are not omnipotent godlike beings who see and know all happening here at once
Admins are members and human like you, except that they are really good at controlling the site so that it's not the Wild West on Wheels.
Your moms and dads who are glad they didn't raise some of us
Just behave as if you can see us. We shouldn't need to posture and be hostile when somebody doesn't seem to be correct or is out of line...admins are your FRIENDS, contact them.

As for the rest of your post, sure.
But when the same troll repeatedly creates new handles and posts antagonizing and often inflammatory posts, you can't expect the community to just roll with it while the admins wait for a few days before enough people complain.
In the end, it'll all work out.

That's not true. I got a warning for quoting a post in which the poster said he was reporting a previous post. I quoted that and put a .

Actually they aren't that good at it. Often trolls are here for months before they are banned, even when it's been obvious from the first post what they are about. Mentioning them by name is not permitted, btw. It's not always the mods fault. I think there are some rules laid out by the owners that we aren't aware of. Generally they prefer to let them hang themselves when they finally flip out. I don't agree with this but there it is. Think about what kind of bottom feeder has nothing better to do than sign up for a forum in order to troll it? I have no sympathy for them, regardless of their issues. Whack 'em down immediately is my preference.

I'm appalled at some of the idiocy present here. This will be my last post on this thread, I received a good amount of info already, so I won't let little children try to belittle me. Won't be viewing the responses here. Sorry squirts, you lost.

I think trolls are allowed to stick around as long as they are (unless they commit flagrant rules violations) because this is, first and foremost, a for profit venture. Trolls create traffic (just look at this thread). Traffic supports ad revenue rates. Occasionally, someone will get dumped completely. Ask yourself what happened to all those threads by Social Unrest.

If you can tell us precisely which comment sent you on your way, it might be useful.

It's called "jumping on your wheel" or "latching on".
Commonly known as a "Wheel sucker", they are speeding up so that they can get behind you and catch a draft.
The correct response is not to drop them immediately but to "open a gap" and let them "dangle" about three bike lengths back but no closer. The idea is to let them stay close enough to have a false hope that they might eventually catch you but not close enough to actually get any advantage from drafting you. Yelling "Come on! Keep up!", "Lets work together!!!" and such things encourages them to keep trying.
I like to put the final nail in the coffin just when they are about to give up. That's when I slow down, let them pass and say, "OK, now you take a pull!"

We have a couple absolute beasts who lead a lot of our rides. They'll sit on the front having tea and crumpets and chatting casually while the rest of us sweat blood just trying to hold their draft.
One ride we had a couple randos jump into our double line when we passed another group (our double line broke down as we squeezed past the disorganized horde and then formed back up except with a couple new additions near the front).
Two realized right away they couldn't hold the pace and they popped right back out. Sure it left gaps that we had to accelerate up and fill gaps, but ok such is life.
But one guy decided he was, I dunno, to just going to join our group???
One of our beasts is on the front with a big strong time trial type. They're just pulling like locomotives. The other beast is second from the front with the rando, and I was right behind the rando in 3rd.
Beast says "we're doing a training thing here" but the rando just looks at him and hold his place. Finally beast says, "OK, but you have to pull through. If you're not going to pull through, just drop to the back now."
The two guys on the front obviously heard this... because I'm watching the power tick up 225, 250... I'm in 3rd wheel at 260-270 watts. Then the front two roll off and captain rando is on the front, with the other beast. I can see him keeping half a wheel ahead of the rando, pushing the pace up... 300... 325... I'm in second wheel and I'm completely redlined at 325... but laughing my ass off. Rando wobbles left. Rando wobbles right. Rando is bobbing up and down like a cork with a catfish on it. As beast casually looks over at him and says "come on, pull through, don't leave them hanging" rando swerves off to the right and zoom he's gone.
Wham! I'm in the wind trying miserably to hold steady at 350 and failing fast. Beast eases back to me (thank god because there's no way I could have pulled up to him!!). I look over and he's just laughing out loud. He says "always make absolutely sure they can't jump back on the back". Then as the pace came back down, we rolled off the front, and I was damn lucky to sprint back on the back myself.
That's how you deal with a rando.

On the paved bike path I ride, yelling "ON YOUR LEFT" usually works.

I love such stories of road cycling bravado. They're so inspiring.
What is a "rando?" Do you mean randdonneur? If so, I know a few who are used to riding hard at 9-11K feet, and more, in elevation who would surprise you (and your "beast" buddies), I reckon. It is a whole lot different that riding around in circles in Central Park.

Rando = Random person not with the group.
Sometimes we get a bunch strung out behind following. That's cool, don't really care what they do behind us. So long as they leave room for guys to slot in when they come off pulls. It's aggravating when you come off the front roasted and can't get out of the wind because some rando is blocking up the rear and won't let the guys doing the work get back in.
But when they wedge into the middle of the group, yeah well https://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycli...-yell-you.html
