I have used Strava for quite a few years but mostly because I rode with a club for the last 8 years. Medical conditions have slowed me over the last year and sometime in January I backed off of the regular group rides. Strava is more to show my old friends that I am still out there even if at a more relaxed pace and shorter distance.

I will admit to a pointless goal a few years back. There was, and I am sure there still is several riders posting that they can and do run down roadies in a pace line using their MTB. Now I also have a MTB and it isn't that old or heavy but I know for a fact that I could never match my road bike pace with my MTB unless we were on a dirt road. So when one of the posters would make the claim of running down pace lines I would look to see if they were on Strava. Once in a while they are and then it is easy to see how they really ride. But to be honest once a supposition that a person is blowing hot air is proven it simply doesn't seem worth it to go back and point out the exaggeration. I now realize it was unwarranted pride on my part and that most people didn't believe it anyway.

So now I have gone back to just posting on Strava so my friends know I am still alive and riding.
