I've got a 6'6" friend that some of us are going to buy him a good road bike. He wants to maybe do some triathlons. Who sells a good 64cm bike under $2k?

Just curious, is this size requirement based on an assumptions or an actual fitting?

He is 6'7" with a 36-37"inseam.

If he wants a vintage bike, I've got a 79 Paramount - 26", which is 66.04 cm. I think it's probably ok for your friend, when I worked in the bike show, I set up an identical bike for Jim Chones (The 6'11" former NY Net), and I'm 6'2".

We are in Gillette, Wyoming. Went ahead and pulled the trigger on a 64cm Trek Emonda ALR 5. Mostly because our local shop only distributes Trek and Specialized. And this is one of the ONLY 64cm bikes either brand makes. It seems to be a great bike though. Anyone have experience with one?

My trek emonda sl6 is 64cm. (I'm 6'4" and mostly leg) There's possibly less expensive builds in the same size.... I see an emonda alr5 in 64cm, for instance. Btw, I was also able to achieve the same fit I have with my emonda 64cm bike on a trek crossrip3 61cm so you should have him check that one also.

Good lord a 64 cm bike? He must be a giant! I didn't know they made production bikes that big. It is good of you all to give a gift like this. I have a friend who rides a 62, he had a custom builder hook him up with a frame. He's 6'4" and weighs about 290. And he's super fast, I can't keep up with him. He measured his thighs one time and they were 34"!

6'7" is enough torso that you're probably right with a 64. I'm 6'4" with a 36" inseam and very comfy on a 60. Because I'm long leg/short torso could probably go even a little smaller but don't need an aggressive fit.

That's interesting, I always assumed 28 inch was the maximum tyre size and therefore the maximum wheel size. Where I live there are bikes for people over 6'4" but they look out of proportion and bigger wheels probably ride nicer. If 30' or 32' tyres are easily mass produced, there will be lots of up scaled bikes around here in 10 years.

At that height and price I would have had A fit done or at least research it online and LBS.

Not all 64cm are the same.I ride A 60cm Raleigh and Trek.My Scott and Orbea are 58cm and 57cm.

For future reference, Canyon bikes has a 2XL which is a little longer than Trek's 64. It's a more aggressive fit than the Trek with H2. Canyon should be available in N.A. late summer/fall.

i guess thats tall by usa's standard, and the 6k price, must be cheap for american quality?
