And how many people out there need to buy new tools every year because they replace their bike every year with a new model ??...Most people keep their bikes for a long time.

I doubt I could sell a square-taper crank-puller on EBay for much less (including fees and shipping) than someone could get one new for Park tools or some site. Or a square-taper BB wrench.
Snap-on doesn't even make bike tools.
Could it be that this whole line of discussion is based on deception, dissimulation, confusion and some sick twisted person's warped sense of humor?
Let's get back to the the OP's query---why does he take the fun out of cycling?

Personally, I only by branded Shimano chains ... so I can sell them when they are worn out. Who would buy a used no-name chain?

Other than baseball, golf, football, basketball, competitive shooting, track and field, and every other competitive sport I can think of. What competitive sports do people NOT look to the best in the world for inspiration, guidance, or information?

Makes sense if you consider competitive bicycling sport (i.e formal or informal racing or endurance activity ) as the only best in the world kind of bicycling. Personally, I get no inspiration, guidance or information for my bicycling activities from the competitive sports slice of the bicycling pie. I get my fun bicycling by bicycling, because I like to bike; don't need no stinkin' "competitive bicycling sports" goals.

You work for free? Find yourself unable to resist the capitalists' demands?

Working for free doesn't make you a capitalist it makes you a slave. Selling your services (going to work for the highest bidder, threatening to change jobs for more pay) makes someone a capitalist. Almost as bad as unions.

Let's all step away from the simplistic, slogan-based politics, please. There are bikes and cycling matter to discuss ... plenty over which we can engage in ill-informed, badly reasoned, factually unsupported debates. No need to stray into other fields.

I emphatically disagree with that. Beginners come here for advice, they do not know what is good advice and what is advice worthy of dismissing as personal opinion. I am a bit touchy about this, and a bit argumentative on those points, because back in 2013 I was that beginner. I was told that nothing less than a 105-equipped carbon bike was worth buying, both by friends and the supposedly knowledgeable LBS that I visited. I rode for about 50 miles that year on my old MTB, before giving up. The next year I had a need for that bike, so I learned how to rebuild it myself, because I was not spending the money that I was told I needed to spend to get a decent new one. The third year, I finally found the C&V section, who were very helpful in getting me on track and onto a bikes in a price I was comfortable spending.
Had I not met my now-fiancee who was into biking in 2014, though, I very likely would have never continued trying to find a bike. I would have just said screw it, I'm not spending that much to see if I am going to continue with it.
Homebrewing. Definitely homebrewing. Probably golf. I see quite a few folks at hockey that have $250 carbon sticks that don't know how to take slap shots, too.

Sure it is comparable, IF you think that driving a car requires looking to the best in the world competitive professional racers for inspiration, guidance, or information? Why should any driver (or rider) ever settle for anything "less" than what the pros ride or drive on race day, eh?

Hmmmmmm...I ride a 2009 Haro Shift R3 MTB. It was a 26er , now converted to a 27.5". The old rear suspension is still the stock Rock Shox Bar. I only changed the front suspension to a 27.5. This is my fav bike. I also have a year 2000 Giant Yukon Se, a 26er with Avid Archrival V brakes.
I wear a Six Six One Recon Helmet, a year 2004 Oakley glasses. My cycling Jerseys are either Fila, Fox or TLD. I wear baggy shorts from Fox, Sugoi and TLD. I use Shimano SPD. My cycling shoes are 2007 Adidas Clipless. I wear open finger gloves. My group set is a 9 speed Shimano Deore which recetly had a new BB. My brakes are Avid Elixir 5. I have a Cat eye Cyclocomp on the bike.
Now I wonder if this 57 year old geezer is emulating a pro racer?
I ride for fun and I still have fun cycling, especially when I get dirty with mud splashing over me. My max is 35km per hour and I imagine its like 50km per hour. My average is only..hehe..20km per hour...
I do what I like (as long as its morally correct and within the law), dress as I like, ride when I like, ride where I like, I still keep long hair. Bottom line, I am having fun. an no..I don't need a new bike !

Sorry, you are doing it wrong. stop having fun. Come up with a new plan. We will let you have fun again, depending on the new plan's conformity with imaginary norms which exist only in the imaginations of the people we imagine ourselves to be.
