I voted for solo since 99% of my serious riding is done alone, but sometimes I will ride in club group rides or occasionally with my sister-in-law.

Since loosing 30 lbs. to diabetes, I ride solo. I found my climbing legs again, my MUP and flat lander buddies don't want hills on the rides. I usually lead a club ride once a month, but that's hilly, now. KB

Most of my rides are solo, but I don't mind riding with others. Like it's been said, when riding with other people, my expectations are shifted.

Rode solo yesterday.
But the vast majority of my riding is done with a local group, which I prefer.

Works out well though. I push myself harder than I get with most groups. But riding with friends or groups forces me to adapt to a pace and often erratic tempo that I wouldn't normally ride. So it all works out.
I am in the same boat. For just regular day rides, I don't mind it so much.

For tours, I would rather have someone along. Sharing the experience are a the top of the list but there is also an advantage of safety having someone else along. In addition, it helps to have someone else along to bounce decisions off of. It can be a little stressful touring in an unknown area.

But things are changing and if I want to tour I need to get used to the idea of touring alone.

Believe it or not, , it's pretty hard to find a riding partner for my rides starting anywhere between 10PM to 4AM. Just a bunch of younger guys who need that extra sleep since they're still employed. Yesterday I was out at 2:17AM for an easy 52 miles then met up with the LBS ride group at a more reasonable 8AM start. Another 55 miles and called it quits.

I'm so slow I'd probably slow down a 10 year old kid if I were to ride with one.
Yesterday I had trouble passing a little girl on a 16" wheeled bike. (I did get a 2nd wind, though, and got back to 13 mph for the rest of my ride.)

I'm a member of a pretty active club, but I'm too impatient to ride with the slow group (too slow and too many stops) and not fast enough to ride with the next faster group. I ride alone.

I prefer to ride alone, then I can be all me. Stop when I want, go the speed I want, go where I want.

I ride alone, most of the people I know are invalids or not interested.

I ride solo as well, but I'm surprised at the results. I'd thought most here ride with groups most of the time, but maybe I'm thinking of the 41.:/

I bike a lonely road
The only road that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's only me and I bike alone

My shadow's the only one that bikes beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing thats beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there would find me
Till then I BIKE ALONE

(Boulevard of broken dreams, my version)

Most of my daily rides are solo, but I have a few friends that I do long rides with mostly on weekends.
The most reliable of those friends is riding across the country this year, so I haven't been out with him this summer.

I prefer riding with a friend, we're able to have a social and also push each other harder when we want to!

I bike with my son almost daily and the wife a few times a week. So in terms of frequency, I bike with others more than solo.

That said, my speed is basically halved when riding with a 6 year old.

When not riding with my club, I have a couple friends with similar tastes in speed and length of ride. I much prefer riding with someone else; it helps me relax and enjoy the ride.

I've always been a solo rider, till I joined the bike club 4 or 5 years ago. I really enjoy the group rides, and I really enjoy the solo rides. I guess I'm 50/50. 2 or 3 days a week with the club, and 2 or 3 days alone. It's all good. The club rides are a half to one hour drive, solo rides leave from home. On the group rides, I end up alone a lot anyway, being one of the faster slow guys, or one of the slower fast guys, depending on the day.
