Real time computer with HRM - UPDATED

Looking for a handle bar mounted computer (e.g. cateye, etc.) with a real time, broadcasting HRM. Not really finding that anywhere. Can anybody make a recommendation? Want to stay under $150. Thanks.

I would consider mounting my android phone. Or what combos would you suggest? I want reasonable accuracy too, meaning better than Fitbit. Thanks all!

According to Amazon:
Question:
Are there any heart rate monitors that work with this product?
Answer:
No, this one does not work with heart rate monitors. There are some out there, but this done does not.
By Amazon Customer on August 9, 2013 No.

No. You'll need to buy a separate one. Some are like wristwatches and some have handlebar mounts that can probably be placed near the Strada unit. In most forms they usually receive signals from a chest-belt transmitter.

If the HRM you have interferes with the Strada you should probably use the process of elimination to see what works. I have no idea, the product was a gift to my daughter-in-law and she has no heart problems.

I have the Cateye. Used it for years. Not sure which model but it looks just like that and has no HRM capability

Polar V650 is $166 at Ribble with an additional $15 off if you use the code. The M450 is $128. The M450 with chest strap is $149. -Tim-

My Garmin Edge 25 connects to my ANT+ HR strap. Uploads HR data along with speed and elevation so you can see how out of shape I am...

I've had two Polar watch style HRMs. Not crazy about them. Loose signal a lot and after about a year, both died. My first I sent back for repair. Strap sensor failed and they charged me almost the cost of a new one.

Anything else besides Polar?

Anything else besides Polar?

I've had Polar products since 2001 and this is not my experience at all.

I'm returning a Garmin Edge tomorrow and just purchased a second Polar V650.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

Well, I'm 0-2 but heck, third time's a charm. Maybe I'll give them a last try.

I love my garmins.
My old edge 200 still works.

If I were in the market at that price point, it'd be the edge 25 hands down.

The edge 25 requires a separate HRM. I'd be well over the $200 mark at that point.

I have a Galaxy S7. How do folks feel about using that real time on the bike with a Wahoo or equiv?

my lezyne super GPS has heart rate functionality. connects via Ant+ or bluetooth and the barebones unit comes in at $150.00.

also, i believe you can buy a package deal with the heart rate monitor which if you do purchase - the heart rate strap and unit also emits a bluetooth signal so you can then use the heart rate strap with your phone to connect to pursue other activities.

Which bike computers don't require a separate HRM? You looking for a watch?

It's wasn't the HRM I had issues with, it was adding that went over my price point or $150. That would have been well over $200.

I had the watch type when I used the Polar with chest strap. I liked the data but had two fail after about a year of use.

Looking for a solid, reliable bike computer with HRM (real time feedback) for $150 or less. I had also asked about using my Galaxy S7 with that armband transmitter and a cycle app. Not sure if that's too bulky or how reliable that setup really is. One thing, it's cheap. Anybody use a Galaxy phone like this?

Can't tell from the description if the HRM is a real time feedback. Does it display real time?

If you have a strap that is compatible with whatever model of bike computer you wind up with, then yes, you will get real-time data. Price point will vary based on feature set. If you want something that is wireless and connects to your phone for data transfer, that will likely be above your price point. USB connection to a PC for data transfer will be cheaper. If HR is all you care about, then a Garmin Vivosmart HR will do the job, and doesn't require a chest strap (I just got a refurbished one on Amazon for $60). But you would have to be staring at your wrist to get that data in real time.

It updates every one and a half to two seconds if that's real time enough for you, it has customizable pages so you can add this visible metric to any of up to four or five available pages with four optional fields per page.

Check out the Wahoo RFLKT.

It is around $80, and it pairs with your phone, using the phone to do the heavy computational work and it is just a (very) configurable display. By itself it does nothing, you work off the phone, all the data is kept there.

You can use any ANT/BT heart rate monitor, and it uses GPS for speed/distance or you can get one of the combined speed/cadance units from Wahoo if you want more accuracy.

The phone stays tucked away in a jersey pocket or a bag on the bike.

Blackburn Delphi 5. Old model, but HRM included, speed & cadence. Display is a bit small but I've got one on both of my bikes and love them.

When I purchased the most recent one in March, I couldn't find any still in stock in the US but ordered from Slane Cycles in the U.K. - $96.47 with shipping and import duties after coupon.

While I've never used a wahoo HR sensor with my phone, I've been happy with their Ant+ speed and distance sensors that pair with my garmin.

I wouldn't be afraid of trying their bluetooth sensor that pairs with your phone. I'd imagine it'd work very well.

Personally, I've used garmin HR monitors for... 15 years now? The rechargeable watch battery dies long before the HR sensor stops working.

I use the Wahoo Tickr and it works fine with Wahoo Fitness.

$50 for the strap, puts you well under budget.
