Bikes: Zenetto Stealth road bike & Sundeal M7 MTN bike
Three years now of almost 12 months riding every year with Third Eye helmet mirror. Adhesive failed eventually but lots of glue and such available. Constant vibration led to mirror dropping. Fiber Grip in articulating joints solved that. Three years, second helmet, third bike and still happy.

I have a Trek FX (similar to yours) and used an exacto knife to cut the end of the grip and put in a Mirracycle Mirror; works great.
The large mirror on wide handlebars gives a great view of cars approaching from behind.

I have used bike and helmet mirrors. I like them both but since I ride more then one bike, the helmet mirror ended up being easier.
The one I have been using for a long time is https://hubbubonline.com A small supplier that makes a durable product.
BTW, I started with a mirror that was great on my bar end shift bike. After long use, I needed to replace but it was no longer available given the change in shift design. But given what I said above, helmet mount is my preference

Same for me. I'm careful with my helmet and the HubBub mirror hasn't come out of alignment in about 8 months.
Clean it once in awhile, snap your helmet on, and you're ready to go.

My favorites...
Blackburn Multi Mirror. Pros: Stays in place really well once it is set, highly adjustable for different views and positions, large viewing area. Cons: Sticks out pretty far - fine for flat bars, but I don't like it on drop bar applications. Other Features: I once disassembled one of these and bolted it directly to my handlebars rather than dealing with the plug.
Third Eye Bar End Mirror. Pros: Good viewing area with a small profile, stays in place while riding. Cons: Bar end installation can be a bit more fussy; will move around if you e.g. bang your bike into something or crash.
I don't like helmet or eyeglass mirrors - never have, never will. YMMV.
