Marin also made some excellent rigid chrome-moly MTB's in the early 90's. Chromoly Tange double butted tubing. Strong but lightweight. Frames with a relaxed riding position. Repairable, recyclable and with the classic "Feel of Steel". As they say, "Steel is Real". The matt finish and the decals are the business too. These also make an excellent, but cheap touring bike or town bike and they are cheap to pick up used. What is there not to like?

If a road is impassible then no bike is any good, you're better off with a Cessna 172 or, preferably, one of these Bell 206.

It's obviously the last one. How could it possibly be anything else?

No, there's a ZOMBIE blocking the impassible road.

“We are the knights who say knee!” Should suffice

There aren't very many places you can't ride on an ordinary rigid fork mountain bike. Might be hard to find and you'll have to settle for one that has a suspension fork.

Toughen up !

In Cyclocross, if you could not ride it , you shouldered yout bike and ran,
carrying the bike.
Example; the 3 peaks bike race, in UK, (but these were not $200 bikes)

I hear some crazy prices from you guys on here.

I sold this impressively tidy Marin Alpine Trail on eBay earlier this year, immaculate SLX kit, Mavics, and NOS RockShox, and was happy to get £80 for it.
Course, it wouldnt pass the unpassable road..

You can get a really, really nice used MTB here for £150 and stick a pair of 2.5in tyres on it, end up with something really competent.
