I ride both for the health benefit as well as due to the fact that I enjoy it. Truly had to cut back on my riding due to issues with my prosthetic and miss it a lot. I saw a lot of cool things doing a hundred or so miles plus a week.

Yes... it's my meditation.
Besides.... I am sure I can overeat enough to offset any positive effects of biking.

Yes... I would ride for enjoyment, to be in the country and the hills and taking in the surroundings

If my body were exactly the way I wanted it (size, weight, muscularity), I would be about 35 to 40 years younger and would primarily be running instead of cycling.

lol, lots of great responses. I would definitely continue riding also as meditation, therapy, fresh air, to get out of the house, and to get away from everyday stressors
thanks and keep the comments coming!

For sure, I love being out on the roads on a bike. It's calms the soul.

If I found out today that riding a bike was like smoking a cigarette and eating a pound of lard, I'd shrug my shoulders and say "YOLO!".

your body was the exact way that you want it (size, weight, muscularity)? So, no trying to lose weight, or tone up
those people who do nothing and look fantastic, pretend you're one of them. Would you still ride your bike?
I know some will say yes because I commute, or don't own a vehicle, but primarily am looking for opinions from pleasure riders

*Except for my arms ... there are times when I'd like a whole lot more muscle definition in my arms. But I don't think cycling is going to contribute much to that.

Definitely would/will continue riding, cycling has allowed me to keep my sanity while managing Parkinson's Disease. Since a nice ride can ease the hand and leg tremors and the overall pains that can become really harsh. And, its without having to increase the medication, and fewer of its side effects to deal with.

Definitely yes...I ride to keep my brain healthy. Keeping my body healthy is only a side effect.

Heh. My favorite professor in college was double his ideal weight. He said, "You know, I have to eat 5,000 calories a day to maintain my weight!"

My body is the way I want it and was this way when I began riding.
I didn't really choose cycling for exercise...It was more so for my mental health & mostly to be a part of my recovery.

I bike because I love the feeling of freedom. That is all.

I already looked pretty darned good for my age. I just ride a bike to fool everyone into thinking I feel as good as I look. Gotta put up a good appearance for the buzzards so they'll stop circling me while I'm riding.

It's definitely more fun to ride when you do it often because you're always in shape to ride then. You can ride faster and longer.
Look at it the other way. If you are happy with your fitness level and looks today, how long will they stay that way if you don't do any exercise?

Like many have said before, I would ride even if it weren't good for me. The calm I find when riding, and the chance to appreciate the beauty of the world around me, is unparalleled. I find that I am a much calmer, happier person when I ride regularly.
But if I were at my ideal body weight, composition, & muscularity (and had the extra cash), I would probably wear Rapha. I'm irritated that their ladies' sizing is so limited. I think their XL is a US size 10 or 12. That, and I don't have two hundo to drop on a pair of bibs.
I do use and love their embrocation and chamois creams, though.

If I could have whatever body I wanted, I might try Scarlett Johanson's ... and I'd give it to my wife. I would keep cycling.
