Bikes: 2007 Specialized Roubaix Elite Triple - 1st ride = century 9/19/2010 , Ultegra

Why didn't you think of that?

By happenstance* I ended up on the Sharper Image website. What a trip down memory lane... Hey, they have a section on BIKES. I wonder what they will have...
  • Jacket with LED turn signals built in - "Simply raise your arm as normal to indicate a turn" to activate.
  • Smart Magnetic Bicycle Directional Indicators- Magnetic attachment(?) to handle bar ends - batteries included
  • Rear View Mirror - on a glove! I won't ride without a mirror, but this seems idiotic.
  • Wireless Bicycle Turn Signal - it looks like the remote control is about the size of a fist
  • The Reversible Three Wheeler -$549.99 - a recumbent with an awkward reverse gear
Hope you enjoyed this.

Bikes: Several...from old junk to new all-carbon.

Turn signals??? My arms work just fine for that.

But...on the website:
"Reflective Biker Socks -- $29.99"

$29.99 for a pair of socks is one thing. But I am NOT a biker! I am a cyclist. ("Bikers" ride motorcycles)

I didn't know it still existed at all until this thread. Not exactly the same as it was in Olden Times.

From their site: "Relaunched in 2010, SharperImage.com and the Sharper Image catalog are owned and operated by Camelot Venture Group."

From Wiki: "The earlier consumer products retailer by that name was founded by Richard Thalheimer and was in business from 1977 until its closing in 2008."

I did enjoy this. Thanks.

May I tell a story? Thanks.

70 yo brother - decides to get fit in retirement - buys sensible bike with triple chainrings, 9 cogs, 38mm tires, etc.
BUT THE Gadgets, OMG. Some people are just gadget folks.
LED turn signals on cycling gloves (just touch contact pads on thumb and index finger)
Mirrors = 3 - one each end of the flat handlebar + helmet mounted (and colour coordinated with helmet attachment).
Two headlights and two taillights.
iPhone handlebar mount (an Apple-oficionado, so their range of fitness monitoring options).

When I told him about Strava and the world-of-post-ride-auto uploaders to your personal online database and training 'coach', his heart was racing. The ride length was about 3-4 miles, on the flat, gated community streets and short trails.

He would buy from Shaper Image.
He's just getting started. Maybe a road bike in his future, but with electronic shifting. (edit) AND disc brakes!!!

Go Bro Go.

The jacket needs to also have an integrated mp3 player and back massage feature otherwise it doesn't really capture the essence of Sharper Image.

Bikes: Trek 1100, Raleigh R-500, Cannondale R800, Roadmaster gravel/beater mountain bike

Why would anyone need a reverse gear on a recumbent trike? Wouldn't it be just as easy to walk it back with your feet?

It’s for hill climbing. The things climb like s**t so they give you a real reverse gear to make you feel like that’s the problem.
