Bontrager AW2 tread life?
What have you gotten before treads start showing up?...or have other problems came up before you have to worry about treads showing?
I keep trying to be talked into changing from what I'm using right now, a cheaper tire that gets 8-10K miles rear/front beforet he bead of the tire fails on me, to an AW2...more expensive, and I don't know how good the tread truly is. Thought I would check on here and see if anyone is using the tire and has real road experience with the tire that can give me an idea of how good the tread is. Why pay more for a better bead when the tread won't hold up. Totally stupid to do something like that...hence why I have been sticking with the T2s.

Because the power goes to the ground on the rear, They last longer on the front than the back ,
but for safety if you only buy 1 tire put the new one on the front and that front on the rear.
A Compound that is harder will last longer , but softer ones grip better to corner faster..
It's a Trade off..
[2 bike tours; 1 with softer compound I used several tires, with a harder, when finished it still looked like new..]

I have 2500 miles on AW2 TLR tires. It's on my "foul weather/winter" bike and get ridden on roads with lots of debris, sand, glass, branches and potholes.
They perform really well and have no cuts or flats so far after 2 seasons.

I've run the AW2 Hardcase Lite on 2 different bikes. Both bikes had cheaper stock tires on them and were replaced with the AW2 HCL. The first most notable thing that both my wife and I noticed was how much more quiet they were than the stock tires. We have only flatted a couple of times on them (one time definitely my fault). I have a little over 2000 miles on one pair and although the tread on the rear tires is starting to flatten out, they seem to be fine. Do I think you can get the mileage you're looking for out of them... no way. I'm probably going to replace my rear tire in about another 500 miles so, 2500 miles and that will probably do it. It would run much longer but I change tires before absolutely necessary.
