Which comfort seatpost?

I'm after a comfort seatpost at a reasonable price (under 100 GBP = 131 USD = 114 EUR).

Key requirements:
  • 31.6mm diameter
  • 350mm to 375mm length
  • Easy saddle adjustment (tilt, fore-and-aft)
  • Flex / bump absorption for comfort
  • 0 to 15mm offset

I have the Specialized CG-R on one bike but it's not available in 31.6mm and is over my budget anyway. Something along those lines would be ideal.

I've had a Thomson Elite before but that is designed mainly for strength rather than comfort.

A Thudbuster from Crane Creek would be excellent.

Are your tires wide and supple?

Before spending a bundle on a shock absorber seat post, start where the bumps start, at the tires. Panaracer PT Messengers can be found cheap. Can you fit 38s and run them around 45 psi depending on your weight? Many tires ride very harshly. Start with supple tires and then if you need more cushion, go with a shock absorbing seat post next.

This is probably the best of those type seatposts I have tried, so much so that I bought one. It is less suspension and more isolation but it really works well. They make a carbon version if you are more weight concerned. Yes I understand the seatpost is above the price you gave but it does the best job for sure.

Not sure of the offset, but could be worth finding out:-

I found the Fizik Cyrano R1 at a 72% discount. Great reviews on the ride quality and it's a carbon seatpost, although its weight is high. It's 400mm so I might have to cut an inch off.

is it noisy? Any chatter during road rides from the moving parts?

Before you spend a bunch of money, try this. Works great and is available in 31.6.

For comfort, smaller diameter seatposts are better. Get a shim and 27.2mm carbon post.

The length you require is longer than the Ergon CF3, which would otherwise be a desirable option.

Only putting out 'under 100 GBP' ? see if you can find a used USE,
a spring and elastomer seat post made in UK.

they made a 25.0 & a 27.2 mm and offered a series of machined shim sleeves
for other seat tube ID requirements..

I am using their 25,0 ID, 27,2 OD shim sleeve to re use the <C> seat post
out of my AlAn ..

I haven't noticed any noise yet but it might be possible. I will hopefully be able to give a longer term review. Probably not any more noise than say a full sus bike with coil shocks?
