Bikes: 2018 Roubaix

Different frame than listed on website

Good evening everyone, I have an odd question. I decided to order a new 2018 Specialized Roubaix Sport with a 105 Drivetrain. On their website, it says that it should have the Fact 9r carbon frame. It just came in and to my surprise, on the rear of the bike it has a Fact 10r stamp. Does anyone know why that would be? I’m not complaining at all, matter of fact I’m quite happy as the 10r is supposed to be lighter and stiffer. It’s just odd is all.

Web sites are often slow to update. There might still be some 9r framed bikes shipping and they don't want to update it till there all gone. Nobody minds getting a newer model than advertised, but all hell breaks loose of someone receives a older one than advertised.

Ask them to send you a Fact 9r decal set ... and make Them pay the postage.

We all hate unexpected upgrades, as well we should.

Wait ... do you work for Specialized? Is this an ad?

I’m pretty happy about getting a free upgrade, I just wasn’t sure if it’s common practice as this is my first new carbon road bike.

If they're going to arbitrarily upgrade your frame without asking, you should demand a groupset and wheel upgrade too.

I've spotted a couple of mistakes on the Specialized site for my bike (CrossTrail) and discussed these with my local Specialized store. One in particular related to a remote lockout function on my fork when, in fact, there is no remote manual lockout function.

So, errors on the advertised spec for Specialized bikes doesn't surprise me greatly.

However, you seem to have got a 'better' frame and in my case the lockout function is automated through Specialized's 'Fitness Brain' technology, so all is well.
