Hurricane Florence

I hope that any BF members that are in the path of this storm are safely out of danger. This looks like a nasty one and I don't want to lose anyone, especially any BF members.

Take good care of yourselves and stay safe. Please.

Savannah resident here. We’ve been in and out of the path over several days as tracks have shifted. Savannah has a well known ‘lucky’ label when it comes to hurricanes and thankfully this year (so far) that’s held. Had to evacuate last year and the year before that. I’m hoping for the best for all my Carolina neighbors, but I’m also focusing on and very worried for my close friends in the Philippines, where super typhoon mangkhut is just off the coast as a major cat5.

I'm an admitted weather wonk. With that out of the way, anyone living within 5 miles of a coastal area should take the time to read "Isaac's Storm."

You mean "tropical storm" Florence? Despite the hype, it's a non-event. I rode out Katrina, Rita, and Wilma, millions without power, genuinely catastrophic damage, and an overall bad time. I like the following clip: Weather Channel Video

hm - better tell the flooded out inhabitants of Wilmington, New Bern and Lumberton to HTFU, ‘cos it’s just a “non-event”
