Bought Run out Stock Clearance 2018 Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 Disc

So after a few weeks of searching for a bike that i like I ended up with a brand new run out model stock clearance sale 2018 Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 Disc ($1875 discount 37.5% off) - I didn't like the Liv Model as I don't like being told it's a bike for women so i should get one.

I went to see Trek and Cannondale but didn't like the styling of their bikes and they charge a whole lot more for a whole lot less equipment - didn't particularly like the Trek salesman.

What do you guys think of my new bike? (2018 Giant Defy Advanced Pro 1 Disc) I love the green color as it goes with my hi viz color jersey and helmet.

My 2018 Giant Roam 1 Disc will be used for shopping and stuff but the Defy will be used for riding along the beaches and bike paths.

I started riding on a 2009 Defy 3 aluminum bike before going to a TCR and Propels. I've always wanted another one or wish I would have kept the original.

Congrats on the purchase. I have a 2017 Defy Advanced 2 and my wife just purchased the 2018 Liv Avail Advanced 2 (she's too short to fit the men's bikes). I've been very happy with mine.

1st Congrats on new bike.

2, I agree with you on Liv. bikes should be bought because they fit, not because it is a Liv or has girly colors, or guy colors.

the Defy is an awesome bike! Enjoy it!

It will never work for you ... you should have gotten the Women's model. ( )

I'd say you made a super choice. The Defy is one of the bikes I considered long and hard when I wanted an endurance-frame bike. And you go t a great deal on a good model.

But ... you had either better post pics soon or post a doctor's excuse. No one is allowed to post about a new bike without pics. Read the site's Terms of Service. You forfeit your bike if you don't follow through with at least phone shots.

Enjoy your new bike, and that "new bike" smell.

Defy is a great name. It comes with attitude.

I've wondered why Giant's marketing team didn't choose the "Despair" for their lowest line of bikes. Featuring:
- gears that won't shift under load
- bland color scheme
- marginal functionality, including increased friction in the bottom bracket bearing
- rusts immediately upon contact with the outside environment

This is why I don't work in marketing...

Awwww, where's the pic? Thread is worthless without real pics of it!!! Go ride it and post back a pic of the maiden journey.

I'm the same way. I won't pay for stuff that expensive without grabbing a "we're about to toss this thing it's sat in our stock for so long" kind of thing.

In 2017 I got a 2015 Giant Propel Adv 1 for $1800. The wife almost **** bricks looking at the original price sticker still in the manual and paperwork. I still see used Propels posted for sale for within $200 of what I paid new for it.

Congrats and enjoy!

I'm only 5'8" so not very tall and i bought a medium size - I'm still waiting on delivery i found out the best time to get a great deal and massive discounts is to buy between July and December when they are desperate to get rid of old stock - I think the one i bought doesn't come with RideSense

I had a choice of 2018 Propel Disc 1 or 2018 TCR Advanced Pro 1 disc but i chose this one as it is easier on my body positioning by the way 2 weeks ago i would have had to pay $500 more but this week they are desperate to get rid of it the shop close to me for some reason cant get a hold of this run out model so i had to travel over 50 miles to get this one

The Propel Disc 1 they had in stock was a Large Size unfortunately (they told me it wouldn't fit me but i did reminded them that i ride motorcycles that's way larger than their bicycles but they stared at me like i was some kind of bimbo) so i had a choice of the TCR advanced pro 1 disc (but that bike was way too uncomfortable) or a 2018 Defy !

I'm going back to the shop today to see how they are going with the bike and i will post pics of it with the stuff they supposed to have installed on it by now.

The frame is made for RideSense though. You'll just have to buy the sensor if it doesn't come with one.

this Defy yes?

They use the term Escape for those bikes but they make others in a similar design. Not quite as bad as described but close enough.

Thanks for that Jessica. I'm 5'8" too and I've been looking at the Defy line. I'm unsure if a small would fit me better than a medium.

I hope you get your bike and all that was promised soon. It's a really nice bike. Enjoy every mile...

I am not convinced that you have sufficient rear traction there ..... couldn't you have used a tie more than afoot wide?

Now you need a trailer to to your Giant to distant regions to ride .... ride out, ride, ride back, three-for-one pleasure adventure.

If it helps, I am 5'9" and ride Giant medium sizes in the Defy, TCR, and Propel models.

Also Jessica, my 2015 Propel didn't come with a Ridesense kit, so I had to buy one. Easy setup and install since the frame was made for it. I got it from Amain:
