There's a lot of apps that don't work in China.

Can somebody post a link for: Trip Advisor and Bing or another search engine? Google doesn't work here. I don't know if Bing will work but I will try once I get the link.

If anybody knows of a map app that's compatible with China that would be good too. Neither Google Map, nor osm in my garmin works.

Probably a bit late, but you'll be needing a VPN, problem is you probably aren't going to be able to download one. Maybe a friend can email the apk for one. A paid one would be less likely to be blocked by the Great Firewall.

Thanks for replying. I previously had a brain-freeze but I just now typed-in www.bing.com and www.tripadvisor.com and they worked.

So I Binged (https://cn.bing.com) and did a search on China-friendly map apps. Proceeded to download one but it froze when it was redirected to Google Playstore. Sigh, all of life's a circle.

Yeah, it's probably directing you to the Play Store from your home country, and the firewall is blocking that, that's why I suggested somebody sending you the APK for a VPN.... There may be a way to get your phone to go to the Chinese Play Store by changing the country in settings? Not sure, never done it.
