Lance back in the News
As mad as this doping stuff gets me I still forgive the man now that it’s 2018. He paid a price and it’s time to move on. He was lucky with the investment he made in Uber. His podcasts are very good.
What do do you think ?

He played the game the same as everybody else. He just played it a lot further than anyone else. He played by the same (unofficial) rules as the next champion. It was afterall another team (Spain? I don't remember) that spilled the beans during some trash talk on an attack when he was racing clean.
People are haters because they can't face the music. It's their disappointment, their disillusionment talking. He was just more determined to keep pushing where others chickened out or backed off in the drug test arena. It really is as simple as that.
My understanding is, when you reach the highest, elitist, most fit physical condition you can be, EPO doesn't actually offer any advantages. Physiologically the room for gain just isn't there anymore. Maybe for mere mortals or CAT3, CAT2 racers it could help, but world class? They are already as good as their body can be.

I couldnt care less about bicycle racing. Seems like a huge waste of time. Ymmv.

I don't have any sympathy for him either. He was a hero to many kids with cancer that thought he conquered his cancer and became a cycling star with out using drugs. He insisted he never used drugs and he was my hero too.

Cycling is up there with bodybuilding in terms of doping, and that's just the ones (like Lance) who get caught. If they're winning big marquee events, they're doped. It's that simple. Hate on Armstrong for whatever reasons you want, but don't just focus on the doping.
Now, it's easy to find the clean ones-- they don't win, and they don't last.

The racing Lance and the person Lance are often mixed. Some people do that on purpose, most get confused. I am opposed to sports organizations punishing athletes for behavior outside the sport. I think that was done to Lance. NFL is an entertainment organization that has to deal with the entertainment issues of betting on dog fighting to kneeling, but cycling is not that (I wish it were). To me, Lance cheated. Punish him like anyone else that cheated. Diego Maradona finally admitted he used his hand to get Argentina that World Cup win - he cheated, and he is still a hero. USADA - Travis Taggart has done more to destroy racing cycling in the USA than anyone. There is the issue, and that he has a job will ensure USA cycling, racing goes nowhere.

With, or without, the same drugs as the whole peloton, his ability with a bike and with team management netted 7 Tours. Anyone else do that ...

I admire what he did and what he got done. Live Strong was a good cause. The media have not put the spot light on the follow-up winners and leaders in the tTour, so I can see where Lance has a gripe. "If you are goinna bust me, bust them too ..."

It's hard to fight the power of the United States government... never understood why the US Postal Service was backing a bicycle team to begin with and if that wasn't nutty enough they used my taxes to single out one doper out of hundreds and sentenced him to lifetime of not competing in a bicycle race... even as a triathlete because a bicycle was involved? Pretty ridiculous. Meanwhile, Il Pirate still won a TdF…?
