racks with rear underside storage tray

Are there any racks with rear underside storage tray storage? I have used the Topeak QR Beam Rack EX Rack but the existing underside storage tray is tiny & lacks for use to stuffing in a spare tube, so does any post mounted rear racks exist that offer more storage? Or even a longer tray that can be easily fitted in the QR EX rack?

Are these sort of racks just not popular?

I think if you're getting a rack it's cause you want to attach a bag of some type, in which case you put what you need in there. No need to have storage in the rack itself. Just makes it heavier.

A bag is not always needed, which can be a bit too much to lug around if all that is needed fits in a concealed tray to a rack. Avoids carrying a bag into a building, especially if what's in the bag isn't very personal. Anything more creates unnecessary luggage.

The manufacturer that I've inquired to did not list anything within their catalog that would be longer/wider than what it already comes with, but maybe I've missed something.

This + whatever low profile storage you want to attach to it.

Get a standard rack and bolt on a weatherproof box of whatever size you want. One example linked below but you can get these kinds of enclosures in all kinds of shapes and sizes.

I have that, but if I use the bag that I already have that also has that same slider bracket, it takes away the option in using that one. The bottom side tray is the only way to go. Strapping, ziptieing, bolting, adhering, knotting something in place just will not work.

How about using a tool roll that holds a tube under the rack?

Nope, they aren’t. They have more bugs than features.

That said, you could probably expand the drawers capacity with some plastic sheet, glue and a Dremel.

For Bike Friday on their touring bikes, when a regular rack is used, which you must, due to the rear panniers are just that tall,

There is plenty of space over the wheel for a storage bag under your rear rack , then...

Make, not shop.

Your OP is a beam rack , how much space under it depends on how high you mount that rack above the rear wheel on the seat post..
then again a long seat post would help.. ..

.....

It's looking like that a "homebrew" tray would be the only option. Too many bigger fish to fry at this time. Here's to another year of looking like a goofy cycler as a homemade tray just is not looking possible any time soon. lol

I have a rack and rack battery for an e-bike with the cells removed (expired). Sounds like just the thing.

Adds weight as it is, though I need it for commuting. Can’t see why I can’t do what I need to between the rack, trunk bag while commuting and my little under saddle bag for a spare tube and a couple tools. Not to mention tire clearance.

They're tailored, the battery slides into the rack. Standard equipment on the 2013 Claud Butler Glide.
