This is such a simplistic view on how global production works.
Even if a brand uses a OEM manufacture somewhere else they are still responsible for development, production, design, distribution, marketing and after sales support. To say that the brand doesn't matter is silly. Apple outsources their production (did you know Samsung makes or did make Apple's iPhone's screens?) but they control very closely the design and production. In other markets there are plenty of generic Phone brands. To compare an Apple phone to a generic one is silly.

i don't ride carbon yet, so it really is down to aluminum frames and what really sets them apart? many say the caad 10 is different and may try that some time. what matters more to me is fit, and much of that i can do myself with adjustments to seats, handlebars etc.

Ai powered paycheck extraction device
Trek has isolated the pleasure centers in the brain that respond to new bike tech. An AI algorithm will generate buzz words and product images that stimulate that part of the brain. They will no longer have to produce actual products. All the will do is post the buzz words and images on the internet and social media with a link that will allow us to dump our whole paycheck into their account. Instead of sending you an actual product you will receive a pill that stimulates the bike tech pleasure center.
The weave image in the background of the announcements is the AI's first released image. This thread is proof that it is working. We are all talking about it and can't wait to hand off our next pay check to get it.

You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.

There was speculation on CGN (if I recall correctly) that 3D printed frames were in the works.

graphene.
200 times stronger than steel, perhaps 14 pounds or less bikes the norm, and conducts electricity for built in wiring of sorts.
GCN produced an interesting video on this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaKl...ature=youtu.be ...sure this could change everything.

Two words....
Square wheels.
The rolling resistance is awful. But they are SUPER stable. They let you reduce overall bike weight by eliminating brakes.

perhaps and we will find out in 5 days. Trek being a business, well it doesn't really matter if they invent it. the job of business is to get the stuff out there and off the research shelf to make money. big bicycle companies do that quite well, inventors don't run big bike companies, but are pretty good at thinking outside the conventional boxes to find better ways.

OK, but if it is graphene, they are going to have to address the fact that the word "graphene" sounds like a sneeze.

Our strongest, lightest carbon yet
OCLV Carbon is Trek’s patented carbon fiber process, the result of more than 25 years of experience building the world’s finest carbon fiber bicycles in Waterloo, Wisconsin, USA. Experience matters, especially when working with a material that holds seemingly endless possibilities but presents such unique challenges as carbon fiber. To understand the best technology, you have to build it, and we’ve been doing just that since 1991.

It is a new helmet that has a new material that absorbs impact much better and significantly reduces the likelihood of a concussion. Apparently, the protection is even significantly better than a mips helmet.
Could be good if the price is not outrageous.

Gotta say, the only thing that could possibly disappoint more people than if it turns out to be a revolutionary new helmet would be if the helmet were packaged in a revolutionary new bubble wrap.

The MTB helmet had a magnetic light attachment built into the helmet. The road helmet was very light. I was told that the new material will bounce back. I don't know if that means the helmet can absorb more than one impact.
It may be hard to see safety as revolutionary , but if it works as it was described, it could save a few more of our lives and reduce injuries.
