Garmin Customer Service thumbs-up!

Just want to give a shout out for Garmin customer service. I have (had) a Garmin Forerunner 10 GPS watch. Very basic GPS watch but all I want/need is one that measures distance/time/speed. I purchased it new about 6-8 years ago. I used it mostly for running. But it also works on bike rides under about two hours. The battery life isn't great. I use it to track my open water swimming (wear at the crown of my head under my swim cap). I can upload my open water swims to Strava via UBS/charger cord. Over the last year, synchronizing with the GPS satellites became more and more laborious. Eventually just stopped. So I contacted Garmin (via chat). That said it's still under warranty (which surprised me), return it and they'll replace it with a refurbished one. I did that. They just informed me that they're out of stock with FR-10s, so they're going to replace it with a brand new FR-25 at no cost to me. The 25 isn't THAT much of a better watch. Battery life is significantly longer, and it has bluetooth capability that the 10 doesn't. So all-in-all...great customer service experience.

And, in regard to my OP, I just want to say that if you're going to own a Garmin product that it's essential to establish an online account with them, register your device(s), and log on occassionally to check for/upgrade the device's software. And that way if/when the time comes that it needs to be returned for service...the required account is already established, and it's just a bit easier to correspond with them.

I have had nothing but great experiences with Garmin Customer service - they are very good to work with and have very knowledgeable staff on the products they support.
