Using TACX Desktop Software / Films with Elite trainer?

Hello. I have an Elite smart trainer that works fine with Zwift, Rouvy, etc and adjusts resistance based on terrain, etc. But am fascinated by the Tacx Films available on their desktop app. I installed it but it doesn't seem to adjust my resistance. . .it connects fine and I can see power, speed, and cadence which a re correct and correspond to my efforts but no resistance changes. Does it not work with non Tacx trainers? Any ideas?

Thanks!

It depends on the age of your Tacx trainer. If it is older and not ANT compatible, the functions you’re looking for won’t work. You can send the electronics to Tacx and they will update/retrofit older models, but it seems a lot of trouble and cost ($249) to me. I chose to mothball my Tacx unit and buy a capable Kick’r instead.
