I disagree, you can glean some useful information from changes in resting heart rate.

- Reduction in RHR over weeks of training indicates increased fitness.
- Increase in RHR from one day to the next may indicate fatigue, overtraining, lack of sleep, or dehydration.

I sure hope we all don't get into a pissing match here (I'm new to this forum)
But my garmin wrist thing seems to do a decent job (I compare it to the doctors reading every time I go in for checkup).
Here's a day's worth - you can see me sleeping, see me get up to pee.
See me get up and coffee. Then work. No biking at all that day.

Last night when I went to bed mine was bouncing between 39 & 40. I didn't eat much yesterday which affects the readings. I also didn't ride or do any stressful activities.
