Little help with Giant ID

Hi, friends. I'm thinking of buying a Giant mountain bike and customizing it.

It's says "Designer 600," on the top tube. It's a five-speed with fenders and a chain guard.

But I can't find any info on it, even in the Giant archives.

I just want to know the approximate year and weight.

Thanks.

5 speed? Fenders and a chain guard? That's odd. Sounds more like a cruiser than a mountain bike.

Do you have a picture of it?

Where are you located? It might be a bike Giant sold in markets other than the U.S. and none of us would have seen it. I was a Giant rep for a while and could not tell you all the bikes they made.

Give us some pix! You have enough posts to do so.

Ah, Google!

Looks like a pretty basic bike. I'm gonna guess 1990 and 38 pounds with that rack and basket.

It's transitional. The front fork, stem and bars are mountain bike-like, the back is like a typical roadie/cruiser.

I'm guessing mid to late 80s. I live in Michigan. I bought it yesterday and I'm guessing it weighs around 35 pounds.
