Oh deer!!!
|
Looks fake to me. I have hit deer with cars and motorcycle. Hit a full sized cow with a pickup awhile back. That is not how it goes.

Dang stunt deer

I've seen it myself years ago when a deer ran smack into the side of car that was only a few car lengths in front of me while I was driving down a county road. That doe I saw bounced clean off the side of that car like a basketball dropped from 3 stories up. The doe I saw was moving fast before it hit the car. |
This happened here in my community several years ago. There a ghost bike at the spot now.

Keep watching it hoping the animal will make it - but it never does :(

These things happen becayse we infiltrate their areas.

Deer are so thick in Southern Illinois where I'm from that collisions with cyclist happen more often than you'd think. Transamerica bike route runs thru there so be careful if you ride it in SI

ooh my, poor fellow
|
i have had such experience also with my bike hitting a deer, i tried avoiding it but it was too late, i just had few bruises, but the deer......, i don't think i have to give details of its condition

10 years ago my son was on a group ride and heading back at dusk. They were on a long straight downhill going over 30mph and two deer jumped out in front. The rider ahead of him his the second deer. It broke his bike in 3 pieces and he broke his collar bone and cracked a few ribs. The deer stumbled off into the bushes. The State Police came and as they were loading the rider into an ambulance, they heard a shotgun blast as a trooper found the deer 20 feet off the road and had to put it down.

I narrowly missed hitting a HUGE buck while I was on my motorcycle 30+ years ago... That incident was just one of the many reasons I gave up motorcycles shortly after... I can't imagine what would have happened if I would have hit it at 40+mph -- dark country road, with almost no traffic at 2am... Heck, I hit a pigeon while riding a motorcycle at 40mph. Hit me square in the chest and damn near knocked me off the bike!

Considering the deer's velocity into the car, I believe it.

The only time a deer bounced off me was in a car. It ran across the road in front of me, hit fence, turned around and ran smack into my door. If you hit one with a car, they roll up the hood and break your windshield. Sometimes end up thrashing in your lap. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...624e5dff16.jpg After https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6621a02a4c.jpg Way before..... |

Poor guy (or girl). I now live in an area where I see deer crossing bike paths and I worry about hitting/getting hit by one. Bears, too. Does anyone here carry repellent?

That was a close one. I was nearly run down by a deer in Rochester while commuting to work once, it charged straight at me and even moved over as I moved over. Took a last second dodge to the left to not get run down. Deer can be some pretty dangerous creatures.

Likewise here. Ann Arbor, for the past couple of years, has employed "sharp shooters" :foo: to cull the herd within the city limits. Annual discussions about this subject generate as much opinion as a chain lube thread on a cycling forum.

My township has something like 20 deer per square mile. I've hit 2 over the years. The last time, I was only going 25-30 mph and it flew far enough to break a mailbox off at the ground. Yep, they can absolutely go flying like that! Although I think it's a fake, too, due to the fact that the car shows no damage.

This was just north of the Golden Gate. Went viral long ago...

Scarier than staring at huge black bear while leaving camp four years later. At least he’d already eaten from the dumpsters. |

In 2017 I was putting on my helmet in front of a campground when a huge one walked out from between two trash dumpsters. We were about 30’ from each other. Wasn’t stupid enough to ask him if I could take a photo. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c755828ee.jpeg |
