perfectly usable bib knickers except for transparent panel exposing butt crack
 

The loss of some fabric from my Pactimo bib knickers has led to a situation where the fabric at my upper butt area is now transparent enough to elicit an "EWW!" reaction from my riding peers.

These bibs are still serviceable otherwise.

What ideas do folks have on how to sew in a panel to block this transparency? I thought of asking my girlfriend to sew in a piece of terrycloth towel into the interior to block this and also absorb sweat. I just don't know enough about sewing stitches and I would think that Lycra might require an elastic thread and some type of zig zag stitch.

Ride solo

I just use those worn bibs to ride the trainer in my garage, or wear them under tights. Never thought about repairing them, as I don't imagine it would work very well.

"Serviceable otherwise". Can you explain what you mean by that? I'm having trouble figuring out what a pair of pants that expose your butt is good for.

For the most part, lycra that is in the state you are describing, is not going to tolerate patching. I'd suggest wearing them under gravel/mtb shorts, if you wish to continue wearing them out in public.

If you are wearing bibs that are threadbare, then take solace in knowing you have enjoyed your hobby to such an extent that you managed to wear out clothing. Toss the bibs then buy some new ones. Clothing wears out with use.

Well other than that thinned panel in the back, the pad is still good, the fabric on the legs is still good, the shoulder straps are still good and the elastic around the calf area is good. The logos have disappeared in the wash long ago but I don't care about the logos. I think I am going to ask her (GF) to use some elastic thread in a zig-zag stitch and graft in a panel in that area.

It's winter. Getting cold out. Wear them under a pair of tights on frigid days

Ditch them before you experience a catastrophic failure. Yikes!

I'd retire them to trainer and cold weather additional layer use. (You could wear black briefs like the UnderArmours under. That will fool almost everybody and even those who figure it out still won't see anything.)

Just curious on which Pactimo bibs you are using. I have a couple pair of their higher end bibs (summit 12 hour) and have not had that problem, or at least no one has mentioned it.
