There was just a thread about this. It was inconclusive.

In my view, there's not enough of a difference to worry about. Use whatever came with the bike.

My impression from reading a lot of threads is that when people report having problems with one or other of the valve types, there's enough uncertainty about their own tools and technique to make it hard to pin down failure modes associated with the valves themselves. In other words, use whatever came with the bike and learn how to use it properly.

Presta valves probably perform better at higher pressure, but bikes that need higher pressure already have Presta valves.

Schrader valves might be more robust under neglect and misuse, and bikes that need that already have Schrader valves.

Agree, whichever came on your bike is fine.

Presta is lighter, is easier for connecting quick-release pump chucks, and is easier to let air out of when you want to reduce pressure.

Schrader exists, I guess. If your rims are drilled for it, it works.

Nah, Schrader valves are used extensively in high-pressure applications. Aircraft tires are often used at more than 200PSI, for instance.
