I've totally given up on both. I hate we lost Price Point a while back. I have had good success with Universal Cycles. If in stock in Lancaster PA warehouse their stuff gets to NC pretty quick.
and the Nashbar site often has the old Performance branded goods.

When my wife and I got back into biking a few years ago, we went to the local PB in Tampa. They were very helpful and courteous. I bought my Fuji used and it was originally purchased there and they took care of me just like I was the original buyer. Nice people, I was sad to see them close.

The two PB's in my area each had an expert mechanic, and although there are other good shops in Orange County, none was better than PB.

So the other thing that happened in the bankruptcy was the sale of the brands owned by ASE to a different group than bought the websites. So does anyone have any opinion on the "new" Fuji, etc.?

Around here (socal) PB was the only store(s) that sold those brands (Kestrel, GT, Fuji etc) AFAIK. Haven't seen anything from since PB's demise.

Fond memories of Nashbar and the deals it used to have. I bought a pair of Ergon SR3 Pro saddles (made in Italy by Selle Italia) from Nashbar in early 2017, a black one for my road bike ($30) and a white one for my hybrid ($25); total steals.

Nashbar's house brand cables and housing were rebranded (or not) Jagwire. Arguably the best for less when they weren't sold out of them which was frequently. Also, purchased a house brand aluminum MTB frame which has been beaten to death for ten years by friends/relatives who visit and exhibits no signs of expiring. Also, they always seemed to have good prices for WTB tires.

Yes. This is only place I am buying from. But they only sell online. I have never seen them in a local bike shop.

Ah. I can see why LBSs don't carry big or tall clothing; they have limited room and $$$, and can't afford to carry everything, so just carry the broad middle. It sucks rocks, but it's understandable. At least you have a source that carries what you need.

Bikes: Lynskey R230, Trek 5200, 1975 Raleigh Pro, 1973 Falcon ,Trek T50 Tandem and a 1968 Paramount in progress.

We used to have a huge store here and they had a great selection of shoes, helmets, jackets and stuff you had to try on. LBS just can't stock all that stuff. Now, their selection is very thin with only a few name brands.

So, LBS where I can, 'cause their prices are about the same and I like to support him. But I look for sales of tires, tubes and stuff like that at BiketiresDirect and Excel Sports.

Huh, never thought about that. I'll miss seeing all the Fuji's around LA.
