Discovery: Camelbak Podium Chill (or its cap)
I've always used water bottles I got free. Like at Bike Everywhere Day booths and such. They work okay so I never thought about paying for one. I must admit, I was missing out.
While at REI last week, I found the Camelbak Podium Chill bottles on display. They were on sale for $16. I had heard good things about them, so I decided to buy one.
Now... the cap!I Once I turn it to the "open" position, I can turn the bottle upside down, and water doesn't come out. But if I suck, I can drink. No need to pull the cap or anything. Such an eye opener.
And if I want to make sure it doesn't leak, then I can turn it to the "closed" position.
I'm going to buy one more of them...

I’ve used Camelbak Podium bottles for years. I do like the feature you described. It’s not perfect. It will spill if not closed and the bottle is jostled hard enough. Especially when full.
The caps also seal well to the bottle. Mine have lasted for years. I’ve only retired one because it got scraped up badly when it hit the pavement as a result of me getting in an accident with a car.
Something that isn’t obvious, is there is a small removable diaphragm type thing on the inside of the cap. This is meant to be popped out for cleaning. At least that’s the way mine are.

My wife and I started using these bottles years ago, and they're definitely our favorite. We have four or five of them. They never leak when closed, are easy to sip from when open, and are pretty well insulated. AND... they come in a wide range of colors, for those who are fussy about the aesthetics of their drinking vessels. What's not to like?

I have 4 or 5. The older models flow better than the new one with the lower profile caps. I just tip the bottle and squeeze to drink.

Congrats, you have found the best cycling bottles out there. I get tons of free ones from various companies and I still pay for Camelbak or well did last time I bought one but they last a really long time especially if you don't freakin' lose 'em.
I have never had leakage issues with mine even full if you really put pressure they can do their thing but if I know it is in a situation where it will be under pressure I put it on lock and no issues.

You’re almost there. Go back to REI and buy Camelbak Podium ICE to achieve the best a man can get.

Based on the title, thought OP was going to mention these: https://www.camelbak.com/recreation/...p/CB-1947.html
I have the older version and bought caps on closeout for cheap. Never regret that decision when I get back from a ride and notice how dirty the caps got.

I started with Chill. You can get experienced with temps and can load the ICE to the right level of ice such that you have two full bottles of liquid at perfect temperature for duration of rides.
____________
CamelBak claims the Chill bottle keeps water cool twice as long with the double-walled construction. With the dirt series version, the exterior graphics are different and the mud cap is included. The Ice version of the bottle is more expensive but keeps water cooler for 4x longer using Aerogel insulation. The classic Podium bottle is non-insulated, so you can expect ice water to stay cold for about an hour or two on hot summer days. The Podium Chill features double-wall insulation that keeps your water cold for about twice as long as the standard Podium bottle. The Podium Ice uses Aerogel Insulation to keep water cold for twice as long as the Podium Chill and about four times longer than the classic Podium.
When it comes to price, the classic Podium bottle is the most affordable at around $12 or $13, with Podium Chill bottles costing about 50% more, and premium Podium Ice bottles costing about 2.5x as much.
They all feature a high-flow, self-sealing, leak-proof Jet Valve cap, a streamlined shape that fits securely in almost any bottle cage, and an easy-to-squeeze body.
They’re among the premier bike bottles on the market.

Not to worry. Any term that can be construed as referring to female plumbing, however remotely, is snickerworthy in the eyes of many American males (cf. the teenage-boy-level derision that greeted the introduction of the iPad), but that trait is not universal.

I like the Polar bottles better for keeping stuff cool, but I like the Camelbak lids better so I ordered just the lids from Amazon and all is well in the world.
