Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter
in any such discussion we need to remember that rim width is a significant factor in actual tire width.
BTW- it's been 50+ years and I still haven't used these tires, nor any others of that brand. Figuring my remaining years, I think the odds are that I'll go to the grave without.

That's um.... quite the scandal you've found there.
Maybe do an expose' about it and conduct an exhaustive research project on the bicycle tire industry.
I'm absolutely sure that 5mm with change the way I ride.

All you need is a silly face and the U-tube algorithms will go CRAZY~!

Put up enough money and someone will prove you wrong. How? you ask. Easy. Take each tire and mount it on different width rims until he/she finds the rim that produces the quoted width. (It may be that this researcher has to have Mavic draw some custom width rims but that doesn't mean that Schwalbe is wrong, just that the wheel people are behind the 8-ball.)
In recent years, manufacturers have transitioned from spec'ing their tires on a narrow rim to doing the same on wider rims and probably varying the rim as the tire size changes. I believe some just changed the labels to reflect the new standard and that others modified the tire width and kept the labeled size.
Edit: Unlike FB, I have purchased a Schwalbe. I destroyed a tire on my way out for a longer ride. Bike shop was a block away so I bought the tire they had on hand, a decent road tire. Whoever handles my estate will probably be able to find a home for a little use Schwalbe.

Message to the OP: How about you spend YOUR time to get the bottom of this, document everything and report here.
Because I'll be using MY time cycling, working on bikes to flip, working on curb finds, putting air in tyres, parts inventory, making sure there is beer in fridge. Yes, I am rather busy, that's why it must be all YOU on this, not and never I.

Haha. Thx. I already had my bicycle ride today. Grocery shopping only as it's freezing and snowing today here in Poland. I also had two lagers, just finishing the second. Anyway, it was nice to meet you guys! Cheers. Bye!
