I ride primarily in cycling shorts. I've tried bibs several times, but always find that either the straps are too tight (if I get my usual size L or XL) or the seat and thigh are a bit loose if I go with a XL or XXL. I'm OK with the latter and have some XL bibs from 100% and XXL from Castelli that I wear sometimes, but I prefer the more compressive fit around the legs I get with a good pair of shorts. I've found some brands that sell bibs for 'big and tall' riders, but these seem to just have a longer inseam relative to the standard cut rather than longer straps I want. What do you tall riders wear? I would have thought that tall and skinny isn't that unusual a build for cyclists.

I like Castelli bibs, but I find the straps to be on the short side when compared to some other brands.

I tried the Pactimo Summit 12 hour bibshorts in the XL Long for more compression further down my quads and these deliver.
I am 6'2" 210 lbs and the fit is perfect for me.

I'm really not that tall or that skinny. Officially 6'1", but with short legs, so my torso is similar to that of someone 6'2" - 6'3". I weigh 180, which again, isn't that light for a cyclist of my height. Nevertheless the various bibs I've tried all have the fit issues I've described (too short in the strap or too wide in the hip/thigh). I suspect part of the problem is that bibs are designed for an aggressive road riding posture. I ride somewhat more head-up than most which probably puts more pressure on the straps and exaggerates my problems with fit.

Don’t get Pearl Izumi. They went cheap and eliminated the seamed edging on the straps, now it’s just thin lycra which is difficult to lay flat. I’ve purchased my last pair,

I have some of these, however from ~8 years ago.. great bibs. Came across this listing -- awesome price if the L fits you. FWIW, I'm 6'2", 185lbs and wear a L. Similar to you, out of my height, my inseam is only a 33"

Have you tried Assos? Pricey but worth it IMO. I'm 6'4" with longer legs (36" inseam) and relatively shorter torso, and they fit perfectly on me (including the strap length). Good luck!

I am HWP with a long torso at 6’1”, size Medium. The straps on the bibs I have bought are so short, they just about give me a chamois wedgie. I have a pair of Black Bibs and the chamois doesn’t work for me.

it's either the legs are too tight, the front part doesn't go low enough, or both. Hard to find a just right fit in all black with thin or no padding.

Yea I tried a pair of the middle range model and I was not a fan of their chamois, but the ultimate version I found very comfortable. Sort of hit an miss. I like the Adventure bibs since they have the leg pockets and pockets on the upper back, but I also use the short inseam models as well. The standard leg inseam is just a bit long for me.
