VeloPress: R.I.P.
As the name implies, VeloPress specialized in books about bicycling. Because of that specialty, VP published virtually every important American book about cycling. Until three years ago that is, when the company was sold to Ulysses Press, which also bought Outside magazine.
As one of the VP authors, I didn't even find out that my book had been dropped until I ordered a pile of them, and they didn't arrive. When I inquired, I was told that my book had been taken out of print after the sale of the company. Thanks for letting me know.
I took matters into my own hands. I purchased the computerized layout of my book from the shell of VP, and printed it myself. I see that other titles that VP "retired" have made it back into print, I assume through similar measures.
I have found that the biggest problem of being self published is the fact that real publishers have distribution in place. I have four tons of my book on pallets in a warehouse while I sort out how to get rid of them.
But at least I am back in print. And **** Velopress.

List them for sale in the C&V sales thread. Might sell more than a few.

Love my Roku. I only bought it because it served as an update to my TV software. You see, you cannot get updates for smart TV software for TVs as old as mine. The TV cost a lot of money when I go it, and the picture still looks great. No way was I going to get rid of it. Got the Roku and cut dumped Big Cable. Between Netflix, Prime (which I had anyway for Whole Foods savings, and local channels via a HD antenna, I have enough to watch.

My TV is so old (2009), it doesn't have software to update, i.e., it is a "dumb" TV, which is ideal. We have a Roku, an AppleTV box, and a Mac Mini (2011) hooked up to it. We cut the cabal TV cord (although they do provide the internet, because it is either Comcast or the Space Karen). I dumped Prime almost a year ago and never looked back.

Our Whole Wallet Foods is a 30 min drive from here, so we only go about once a year. The only thing we used it for was "free" allegedly 2-day shipping (which often wasn't), and the TV (now you have to make a monthly additional ransom payment if you want to skip ads). In other words, we come out ahead without it.

I have so many books in my TBR list that I can't get at the library in NYC and don't want to own. It's very hard to find reading material about cycling. Printed, that is.
