I’m going in

And a bit scared. A month ago I had a pneumo thorax (collapsed lung) brought on by dry needling a problem shoulder. X-ray and Pet/CT scan showed a nodule in my upper right lung which was determined to be active cancer stage 1.

Today I go in for a Robotic Lobectomy where they will remove a lobe from my right lung which they believe will take care of the issue without further need for chemo.

Good luck getting that taken care of Shad!!

I would be nervous as well. And I would have zero issues asking the doc for some Xanax to take the edge off pre surgery.

Good luck! A friend had a similar surgery and was back riding pretty quickly and without chemo.

Sending you good vibes and wishes for a speedy recovery, Shadco

A ride buddy had a lobectomy several years ago, and he barely missed a pedal stroke.

Wow! Best of luck to you. Will keep you in our thoughts.

I can't think of anything else more scary long term for cycling happening to me than what you are having done. I have always considered my lungs as my most limiting factor cycling.

Looks like you caught it early. If lobectomy is considered curative and no need for chemo/radiation, you're getting an excellent prognosis.

Best of luck for a speedy recovery!

Procedure went well but pathology won’t be back til Monday. Inspirometer is showing a 2 liter drop in capacity at the moment but that was where I was after the pneumo thorax. It was up to 3.5 liters before I came back in. Doc says after the X-ray my lung has expanded to fill the area where the lobe was but my lung is still leaking. Prognosis is I get out on Monday.

Coming up on the day4 in the hospital. Lung is taken it’s damn good time sealing up.

i now have massive amount of subcutaneous air trapped in the shoulders, neck and face.

A Hollywood producer wants to sign me up to play Alfred Hitchcock but he says I mined to trim down the neck and face area first.

Hope you do better soon.

I wish you the best. I have two friends going through the same thing since last June. In my world it's an epidemic. All you can do is go forward with a positive attitude. You have a lot of people sending you good energy.

Mayhaps I should go get dry needled again but I’m Afraid the therapist would get blasted by a gusher of air and stale body fluids.

and I am a skinny guy
