this one is not CF. What is the wheel size? So cool. $55 used on ebay.

We should all deliver truth with tact. :thumb:. ;). After all, sometimes truth sucks. But we all have different truths. :foo:

hey.. that one still has the boots on the fork! that's Rare! the boots dampen the pogo effect.
15 3/4" rim diameter... AKA: 20"

a Fox Vanilla, 6.5" shock can be fitted up, to replace the glorified spring guide "shock" on that... then rebuild and grease the front fork with rock shox judy butter... meh, naw... no seals.
the rear swing arm weighs a ton, as does that steel fork... and derailleur.. and crankset.. and steel seatpost... and solid axle steel hubs... and the bars...
umm, what's with that tragic lever angle, anyway?

I would like a refund on my three minutes reading this thread. If I can't get a refund, can I get credit applied to extend my life to use in reading future posts?

Thanks,

"earworm": a song or saying that repeats itself in your head after being triggered by some external input.
Example: "Smoke on the WAAAA-ter... Fire in the sky..." :D

Saw them recently, they sounded good for old guys, I had Highway Star in the brain for days, they didn't do Woman from Tokyo though...

My pleasure. It's one of my favorite love songs. They were from Philly. I say them play at a U. Penn frat party just before they made it big. Sadly, the bassists, Dave "Blood", committed suicide maybe a decade ago. He was suffering from depression, in part because painful arthritis prevented him from playing bass.

IMO, less expensive bikes get a bad rep because they're not set up properly and/or the owners don't maintain them well. I've purchased several (including a Kent "e" BMX) for my kids and now granddaughter and they've functioned perfectly for their intended purpose which was riding on bike paths or at a park. I went through them initially and kept them well maintained. I would never purchase a FS $100 bike though. When the kids were old enough for MTB, the bikes were from Specialized,Trek etc.

you are not the typical Bike Shaped Object customer.
they tend to buy a bike, then complain when it sucks due to a complete lack of any setup, inspections, or basic maintenance. Some blame the child behind their back.

as to Trek and Specialized... they've sold a few BSOs too... the Trek MT220 and Specialized HotRock come rapidly to mind... at least their paint jobs don't fade in a month or less, but everything else pretty much sucks.

PS.. i bought my Gitane Criterium bike for $90.. it came with riding shoes in my size, a spare set of tires, the stock rear der. and Freewheel, and the sweetest Drillium chainrings i've seen in a while.. the ad said "old french twelve speed bike for sale", had a very blurry pic of a blue and white bike hanging upside down, and gave an address ten miles east of Castle Rock, Wa.... he apologized for not having cleaned it for me...i told him that cleaning bikes is like xmas morning for me, and my way of inspecting them.
it needed the bearings' grease changed out and fresh cables to be road worthy. i re-wrapped the bars too.
the shoes, tires, and spare parts were not mentioned in the ad...
the Normandy Red Label hubs are worth more than i paid for the bike.
