Bikes: 1 trek, serotta, rih, de Reus, Pogliaghi and finally a Zieleman! and got a DeRosa

a rough ride.

Go out for morning ride with the wife. Get to stoplight,
stop, wait for light, begin riding, slip off pedal (Gee I
thought that was clipped in) to discover that the nose
of a brooks saddle is not a soft and cushy thing.
Got pedal klonk coming down.
Ride about 10 miles, Wife turns on unknown road which
promptly turns into something resembling the Ho Chi Minh
trail shortly after being visisted by Puff the magic dragon.
Stop to turn around, have some H20 put foot down,
Bike is on Rock which shoots out, bike begins to go over
towards foot still clipped in, Get Chainring bite on leg,
but kept bike off the ground (it couldn't hit the ground
it was imbedded in my leg!).
Ride some more, get chased by some little dog (who's
companion was marching up the middle of a busy road),
Pray for yorky in road, pray for little black dog to meet an
untimely demise and be whisked away to doggie hell.
Ride home, Thigh is cramping where it met brooks saddle,
Shin looks like someone took a ballpeen hammer to it.
and I have a nice tatoo on my calf (drive greasy gearteeth
into leg).
I can't wait to get out again. . .
Marty

Sounds like a great ride Marty! Wish I could have been there. (With a video camera)
BTW, chainring marks are cool.

You know....that at some point you are going to have to explain this phrase to the younger members of the forum?

But I would wait and make them ask!

If anyone asks about the chainring gouge, tell them it's a vampire bite.

Yep... I got me one of them vampire bites. It's on the LEFT leg, though... don't ask.

OK, I'll admit it - I was still teething when Nixon resigned.

Please explain how Puff the Magic dragon relates to the Ho Chi Minh trail?

(Disclaimer: I am not so young as to be unaware of the significance of the Ho Chi Minh trail and Puff the Magic Dragon in their respective historical contexts, however their relation to each other remains a mystery)

Puff the Magic Dragon was a helicopter with lots of firepower used in Viet Nam.
Cleared lots of trails!

Actually it was a C130 filled with ammo and mini- machine guns mounted on the wings.

It could put a slug the size of your thumb in every square inch of a football field. It was designed to take out snipers and other hiding in the forrest....the slug could go thrugh a 6" thick tree trunk. If it sprayed where you were at you would have 30 - 50 bullets in you. The plane would actually rise at 6 ft per second from loss of weight when firing.

And all along, I though that...

Puff, the magic dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In a land called Honah Lee...

Next you will think we were fighting for GOD AND COUNTRY. Man we did the whole thing for politics and businessmen’s money.

Hey, don't get me started. I'll be upset all week.

toe last week its a good thing this isn't
