We have plenty of both here around Tallahassee, but they aren't so bad. I really don't sweat the snakes so much like I did when I was trail running and then I was more worried about my dog than myself. Also for the dog I was worried about gators too.

Bugs were worse in some places out west than here, but there are a few trails I avoid here other than in winter. I do remember bug hell some places when I toured coast to coast on the Trans America. The times I remember getting bitten by bugs here it is mostly when I do trail maintenance .

Now if you count spider webs in the bugs category, then yes they are a pain and since I generally ride at the crack of dawn I deal with them regularly. They are starting to be part of daily life already this year, but late summer and early fall is the worst.
