It's pretty badly done, isn't it? Once you parse the two pages, it's a linear interpolation table for each pollutant. Then the highest one is reported. So they could all five be at 149 and it wouldn't make it 150

Less than 1 mile to work? Get real, just take it easy and you won't be breathing any harder than you do at rest

For my purposes just seeing a rough measure is good enough. Meteorology is a highly developed science, but I guess it doesn't surprise me that the formula for AQI isn't that great. But I thought I saw it was an average over 24 hours when I was trying to figure out why PM2.5 was so much higher than I thought AQI was. Since pollution goes down outside of business hours, it would tend to be lower than PM2.5 or other measurements that have a shorter time scale.

The time-averaging smooths out (or at least minimizes) the spikes. The yurt-fscks would periodically stoke their wood stove, and the 2.5 reading would spike into the instantaneous lung cancer level, but would disappear in the time-average. One of the nice things about the detector is it allows you to access all of the data, not just the time-averages.

I'm a professional data junkie, so I like that on Purple Air you can look at the last 48 hours for any sensor.

Sorry. We are now up to 8.

However, the air around my house is toxic because I am trying to stain our deck.
