Shouldn't there by a double-B in the thread title? Debibbing.

Yes. It intentionally left it out of the thread title so that it would read like a thread about peeing. Bush league move.

Good catch. Its probably right out of the "DIY Trolling" playbook

I'm not so sure about that. Given the choice of a) the OP is a clever troll that puts thought into his thread titles, or b) the OP is a clueless troll that can't spell, I'd go with the latter.

Another fan of bike shorts. And clip-on suspenders. Best of all three worlds. The excellent fit. (That it is easy to adjust the strap length for both your torso length and compensate for short and strap stretch is a nice plus.) Makes using porta potties easy for the serious business of the morning (and makes adding and subtracting layers a lot easier) and it's cheaper. (Shorts are typically $20-20 less than otherwise identical bibs. Suspenders cost ~$20 and outlast several pairs of shorts.l

Bibs are nice but I look at them as specialty clothing, a little like skinsuits. Better for events where you do not need to have bowel movements or go through temperature changes that are best handles with changes of under-clothing. In other words, races, not training, tours ... (And even in the professional grand tours, suspenders would sometimes save real time at key moments - like when diarrhea strikes!)

I'll give the OP a pass on this one. We are talking the English language; the language of exceptions. There are exceptions to the doubling of the final consonant when adding an -ed of -ing. Not coming t mind right now but my spell check has caught a few.

I wear both, but not at the same time . I find bibs in the hotter months too warm. Also bathroom breaks are a PITA literally and figuratively. So I wear bibs in the cold months when my rides are shorter and not need bio-breaks. I recently discovered, since I am a confessed slow learner, that if I pull the shorts way up, usually covering below my belly button, they fit as well as bibs. I used to just put them on like regular short pants but not snug them up, which didn’t keep the gentleman parts in place. So spring, summer, fall, its shorts for ease, comfort and bio-needs. That scenario works for me. YMMV

Edit: Did contemplate using suspenders like Mooney, but found hike the shorts way up worked fine.

The fact that virtually every rider on the grand tour wears bib shorts tells you just how little they worry about that problem.

Not the time when Bob Roll was riding the TdF and had food poisoning all night and then was committed to ride the next day. His story of desperation while riding and how he unceremoniously unloaded at the end of a hedge where he didn’t see a French family picnicking is a classic.

All this debibbing or debibing has me wanting to imbibe. But I ran out of scotch. And it's way too early in the day.

I recommend vodka. There's always a bottle as close as the nearest dumpster.

And yet, he still wears bib shorts.

I’ll still wear them. Just with straps tucked in. Much more comfortable.

IIRC, Ulrich unloaded in his shorts while riding. Might have been while chasing Pantani during a big mountain stage.

And Lemond pooped in a teammate’s hat at tossed it in the bushes during the ‘86 TdF as described in “Slaying the Badger”.

I dont know if all straps are created equally, but the Castelli and Rapha straps I have are too narrow. The Castellis are at least perforated, but both itch in extreme heat.

Not directly related to debibing but also not ok.

Tucking straps so loose fabric is folded and slowly creeping around a little while riding...is the more preferred way of wearing them?

Someday you will have to tell us all what BF pays you to generate content and engagement. There is no way you are doing this all on your own time and reasons.

Unhooked and tucked into gym shorts or just unhooked and hanging free. Have not been brave enough to cut them yet.
