Things thrown at you while riding!

Was riding the other day and someone in a car behind me threw a loaf of bread, hitting me in the back.

That's a new one!

I've had beer cans, cigarettes, and glass bottles thrown at me.

Well, I once was hit in the shoulder by a bottle rocket. Hmmm, it burned a bit and I don't recommend the experience.

one time on a quiet nite ride, an uncoming car thought it would be funny to hit the gas and aim right for me while honking his horn during the charge. my heart almost stopped and I thought i was going to die before he turned away only a few feet in front of me. I'm hardly ever angry about anything, but this time I felt a rage of anger so intense i swore i'd go out and buy a BB pistol so i could at least fight back at least a little if something like that happened again. we'll that was 5 years ago and i still haven't bought the BB pistol.

the count or bike trails can be bad as well if you have skunks in your area.

Boston creme doughnut off of my Camelbak. Another time something else(didn't see it) was pitched at me, went through the frame and smashed my inner calf /shin area above the ankle on my right leg. It felt like maybe a D-cell battery. Also, insults and interesting looks.

Haven't had anything thrown at me, but a couple weeks ago a car pulled up really close. I didn't think anything of it because cars come close all the time. But this one slowed up right as it got even with me, so my heart jumped a beat. As I looked over, I felt something touch me. The drunk chic in the passenger seat had grabbed a entire handful of my ass and squeezed. Then she giggled and they took off. Not sure how to take that...

Kewl! Free food!

Ya know, I've never had anything thrown at me while riding. And I can't imagine how scary it is to have something -- especially as dangerous as a glass bottle -- thrown at me.

I had a beer bottle broken clean over my helmet. Crazy azz thing was I was on a lesuire path, not on the road!

My neighbor threw a rake at me. I knew she was going to do it, and I managed to catch it, and I still have it. She's been "moved" to a more supervised enviroment.

I usually ride the trails so that happens very little, but once (first time I ever rode since I was a kid...renting bike with "idea" of getting one at the time) while riding the Pinellas trail I saw a firecracker (just a little bobcat type) "pop" right in front of me.

Luckily, I'm not the skiddish type, so didn't even slow down. I looked from the side it came and saw 3 kids (probably around 12 years old) behind a wooden fence (saw them through cracks). And I heard one of them mutter, "Oh sh1+....he saw us. Let's get outta here.".

Nothing thrown at me but sometimes a car (this really urks me)...comes up behind me and honks their horn as they are passing. I am not swaying, am on the far side of right lane, minding my own business and that horn sounds. They do on fun so.....as soon as I know they can see me in their rear view mirror, I give them the finger....

that would be a very bad idea. not only is a bb pistol useless, the driver could have a real gun and decide to shoot back.

I was hit by a large green citrus fruit, I think grapefruit, thrown from a speeding car. It is no joke. It hit me square in the back and almost knocked me off the bike. It knocked the wind out of me. The fruit exploded I could see the thick rind and pulp scatter. The lucky thing for me was that it hit my backpack with my thick chemistry book in it but it still stung. A head strike could kill the cyclist. Many many times in Florida I've heard the car accelerating and seen the beer bottle or can or orange fly by but only that one time have been hit. I don't know why car people aren't prosecuted when they assault cyclists. When I reported a strike once to the Alexandria VA. police they just shrugged it off and asked "What were you doing riding a bike anyway?" as though I'm partly responsible just for being on a bike.

Something. I don't know what it was cuz I didn't wait around to see or better said, circle back to look for it. I was in the right lane going through a recently-turned-green light when this car comes up behind me and starts honking like crazy. Well, there was nowhere to go but straight ahead. (I'm not a great curb jumper.) .. and I had no reason not to proceed. Sure enough when he eventually got to the left of me, I felt something hit the small of my back. I don't know what it was. He turned left soon after. I was just relieved he didn't harass me more... I also didn't have a chance to catch the license plate. After he hit me, he sped off and then turned left.
