Stuck bb drive side
Hi
i am removing my cartridge bb, i followed online instructions so i am am going the right way, the non drive side came undone after a little, but the d/s just not budge i suspect its siezed. And ideas of how to try and remove it thanks Andy |
a) make sure your tool will not slip
b) get a longer bar If the internal teeth break off the cup, support the non-drive side of the bb shell with something that will allow the axle to pass, and strike the other end of the axle. Hit it like you mean it. What you want to happen is the part of the assembly on the other sode of the now-broken cup to fall out the other side. Then you remove the broken cup with a hacksaw. |

thanks, will try and get a long pipe, but what i did not mention that it looks like the cartridge bb fell apart a little, as when i took the non ds out the spindle came out with a cartridge bearing on the spindle, i looked inside the frame and i can see the outside of the bb like a hollow cylinder , would that make a difference,
cheers |
Stuck Shimano cartridge BB in a Trek frame came out easily using my Dewalt driver powering the Park cartridge BB tool. Required a small hex-drive-to-1/4" adapter and a 1/4'-3/8" adapter.

Although this probably belongs in the repair section, I'll offer my $0.02 (worth every bit!). If, as it sounds, you have the female side of a bearing cup, run, or get someone to run, a bead of weld around the inside of the cup. The combination of the heating and the subsequent shrinkage of the weld and the cup as it cools should make its removal easier.
Good luck. |
Thanks all, i finally got it out yesterday i managed to get a coach bolt and large washers to hold the removal tool in place i got out my large torque wrench out( don’t like using it to move stubborn things but it worked, the bb did fall apart

Do you need another new BB? I may have that exact model in a 123mm spindle.
English threads. Chin Haur. You can have it for the price of shipping. Maybe ten bucks. |
