a) make sure your tool will not slip
b) get a longer bar

If the internal teeth break off the cup, support the non-drive side of the bb shell with something that will allow the axle to pass, and strike the other end of the axle.
Hit it like you mean it.
What you want to happen is the part of the assembly on the other sode of the now-broken cup to fall out the other side.
Then you remove the broken cup with a hacksaw.

To keep the tool from slipping, cover it and clamp it down, finger-tight.

Pushing with more leverage works SO much better than hammering on the tool.

Well, then, all he needs is a length of pipe!

thanks, will try and get a long pipe, but what i did not mention that it looks like the cartridge bb fell apart a little, as when i took the non ds out the spindle came out with a cartridge bearing on the spindle, i looked inside the frame and i can see the outside of the bb like a hollow cylinder , would that make a difference,

cheers

Makes a difference in how you can bolt the tool in so it stays engaged. You have to get creative with bolts and washers when there is no spindle to bolt the tool to.

Stuck Shimano cartridge BB in a Trek frame came out easily using my Dewalt driver powering the Park cartridge BB tool. Required a small hex-drive-to-1/4" adapter and a 1/4'-3/8" adapter.

When you got the non-chainring-side out was there a bearing race, or loose bearings. that came out with it? Then you could just pull the spindle out? If so that would mean there's just another bearing race(or loose bearings) and the cup off the other side left to remove from the chainring side. If that's the case just fish the bearing(s) out, clean up the inside of the cup and the bearing (or get replacement bearings) regrease and re-assemble. If it was me and it was 68mm BB I'd try some more to get that stuck cup out and replace with a true sealed bearing cartridge. To help with loosening the stuck cup I'd keep putting some penetrating oil on it over a few hours, also screw the cup back in on the other side to help keep the circular shape of the BB so excess force you use don't distort it into an oval.

Although this probably belongs in the repair section, I'll offer my $0.02 (worth every bit!). If, as it sounds, you have the female side of a bearing cup, run, or get someone to run, a bead of weld around the inside of the cup. The combination of the heating and the subsequent shrinkage of the weld and the cup as it cools should make its removal easier.
Good luck.

Do you need another new BB? I may have that exact model in a 123mm spindle.
English threads. Chin Haur. You can have it for the price of shipping. Maybe ten bucks.
