That parrot is dead!
No it isn’t.
It most certainly is dead.
No, it’s only sleeping.
Never heard of Monty Whatever. How about a wafer thin mint?
Ya got me but the posts were referencing Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Originally Posted by rsbob

At least we've avoided the acorns. Avoided the "violence inherent in the system" (Autumn roadways), one might say. There is that.

The crows around our house drop the acorns into the street so the car tires crack ‘em. Then they eat ‘em. Not sure they would not prefer to see me leave some body parts after hitting an acorn.

Crows in the Seattle area drop chestnuts into a crosswalk at an intersection with a traffic light. They have developed an understanding of the sequence of the lights and traffic flow. They make their drop, wait for the cars to run over the chestnuts and wait for the light to change, and then swoop down and get the meat before the next light change. The University of Washington has conducted extensive studies on crows and determined that they are tool users, can remember and teach human faces to their young, and mourn the loss of a member of their life time family to just name a few skills. They have amazing intelligence.Originally Posted by howsteepisit

I think I have y’all beat. Years ago a co-worker and I were driving through the city we worked for in public works. It was spring so we had the windows down on our F-250. I was driving and as I turned a corner my partner yelled ouch. He said something hit him on his chest. I pulled over and he picked up a pecan from the floorboard. Originally Posted by rsbob

We jumped out and looked to see if someone had thrown it but it was about 10am and nobody was around. We figured it had to be a bird. We were doing 20mph and made a 90° turn and he bombed Glen through a window! Alfred Hitchcock vibes! 😆
