Crows in the Seattle area drop chestnuts into a crosswalk at an intersection with a traffic light. They have developed an understanding of the sequence of the lights and traffic flow. They make their drop, wait for the cars to run over the chestnuts and wait for the light to change, and then swoop down and get the meat before the next light change. The University of Washington has conducted extensive studies on crows and determined that they are tool users, can remember and teach human faces to their young, and mourn the loss of a member of their life time family to just name a few skills. They have amazing intelligence.
